About This Pub
Ah, The Pipe & Slippers – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper gem in Bristol's Montpelier area. I've got to say, the food really stands out; whether it's the exceptional vegetarian options or that tasty Sunday roast, it's clear they've put thought into making meals memorable. The drinks selection is spot on too, with loads of local ales, ciders, and cocktails that hit the mark without being over the top – none of that watered-down nonsense you get elsewhere. The atmosphere is what makes it special, though; with DJs spinning everything from funk to reggae on weekends and a cosy, down-to-earth setup, it's ideal for a relaxed catch-up or a bit of a dance. On the flip side, if you're after a hearty meal, you might notice some dishes skimping on the greens, like in the roast, which could use a bit more balance. Overall, it's a welcoming spot that's earned its high marks, and I'd definitely recommend popping in for a pint or a bite – just keep an eye on the opening times to catch it at its best.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – from delicious vegetarian meals to guest kitchens like Jikoni’s, it's a real treat for anyone looking for something tasty and flavoursome.
-
They've got a brilliant selection of local brews, ciders, and cocktails that actually pack a punch, making it a proper haven for drink enthusiasts.
-
The atmosphere is buzzing, especially with DJs and music events from Thursday to Sunday – it's got that warm, homely feel with high ceilings and cosy lighting that makes you want to stay for hours.
-
The bar staff are friendly and attentive, whipping up custom drinks like mocktails with extra lime, which adds a personal touch to your visit.
-
It's a community favourite with a solid reputation, perfect for a laid-back midweek pint by the fireplace or a lively weekend night out.
Cons
-
Some dishes, like the Sunday roast, could do with more veg options – one person mentioned it felt a bit lacking, which might leave you wanting a fuller plate.
-
The operating hours seem a tad inconsistent based on what's listed, so it's worth double-checking to avoid turning up when it's not as lively as you'd hope.

Came here to eat from the guest kitchen, - Jikoni’s. Delicious!
The pub itself was also good! The bartender make us delicious mocktails, - one with extra lime as requested. It was perfect!
This is a special place. We ate THE BEST vegetarian meal we’ve EVER eaten. We chose from African part of the menu. The food is exceptional. Amazing vibe. Amazing experience. Do not miss this place. The bar staff are awesome too! Thank you so much.
To be honest, one of my favourite pubs!

Definitely worth a visit. Don't spoil the vibe
Sunday roast
Lovely lamb, full of flavour and quality, crunchy potatoes, hot and yummy
I would loved some green vegetables as very little
If that changes the score would be 5*
