About This Pub

Ah, The Full Moon – it's this charming multi-venue hub in the heart of Bristol, blending a cosy pub, nightclub, courtyard, and even a hostel into one eclectic spot. From what I've gathered from folks who've been, the staff are an absolute delight, always on hand with a smile and a helpful tip, making you feel like part of the gang right away. The drinks lineup is spot on, packed with local IPAs, ciders, and spirits, paired with delicious food options like Jamaican fare and pizzas from their in-house kitchen – and it's all surprisingly affordable, which is a real win for a night out. The atmosphere buzzes with energy, especially with live music and DJs, making it a fantastic place for a laugh with friends or catching up over a pint in the courtyard. On the downside, though, it does ramp up the volume in the evenings, so if you're kipping in the hostel upstairs, you might find the noise from below a bit of a nuisance, particularly on weekends – earplugs could be your best mate there. Plus, it's not the largest setup, so things can feel a touch snug, and some have mentioned the beds aren't quite as plush as you'd hope, with a few lumps that might disrupt your rest. All in all, it's a brilliant choice if you're up for a vibrant, community-feel venue, but perhaps not the first pick if you're after something more serene – still, I'd say it's worth a visit for the good times it offers.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Friendly and helpful staff who always make you feel right at home, just like chatting with old mates
  • Smashing central location in Bristol, bang in the middle of Stokes Croft and a stone's throw from the city centre, perfect for exploring
  • Brilliant selection of local brews, ciders, cocktails, and tasty grub like Jamaican dishes and in-house pizzas – all at fair prices that won't empty your wallet
  • Lively atmosphere with great music and events, ideal for a fun night out or a relaxed drink in the courtyard
  • Clean and welcoming facilities, especially the hostel kitchen, which sounds like a proper treat for anyone staying over
Cons
  • It can get quite noisy, particularly if you're in the rooms above the pub garden, making it tricky for a good night's sleep on busier evenings
  • Some of the beds in the hostel aren't the most comfortable, with a few lumps that might leave you tossing and turning
  • The space feels a bit on the compact side, so it might get crowded during peak times, which isn't ideal if you're after more room to breathe
  • The vibrant music and vibes might not suit everyone, especially if you're looking for a quieter, more relaxed spot to unwind

Took the boys for a day out in Bristol during half term. Bar staff super helpful and friendly. Affordable prices. Had nice Jamaican food. Great service all around. It’s right in town so a lovely central location. Loads of small shops in one location.

Great location very central. Wouldn't recommend it if you don't like music or vibes as it does get quite loud in the evenings, but it goes quiet at a reasonable time. Staff were super helpful and accommodating and the rooms were nice and clean.

had a really nice time here! friendly staff, good location and the best hostel kitchen I‘ve ever seen. also a nice selection of tea :)! very clean also! the only thing to take into consideration is that many rooms are above the pub garden, so it gets quite noisy, especially on the weekends. Bring earplugs.

The big "mushroom" sitting in the middle of the outdoor area caught our eyes and made us stop here for a wee drink. e really did appreciate enjoying our drinks seated at one of their huge and long tables outside. Kind of a lively pub with music and good ales and ciders, perfect for a break while enjoying the city.

Very good service, not the biggest hostal but worth the money I paid for with was the same price as a 5 guys burger meal. Beds had lumps in it but I was still able to sleep well. Regarding to feet touching the end and my head on the edge, It's great as it's above the pub so u can pop down in less then a min to get a drink and food so good location Views are of the pub ground not much seen and a slight view of the road, it's close by to the main center and easy to get around, I would recommend this place for a cheap night in.
