About This Pub
Ah, The Pig & Whistle – it's one of those classic local spots that just feels like home from the moment you walk in. With a solid 4.3 rating, it's clear folks appreciate the great selection of beers and that authentic, old-school charm where you can chat away with the regulars over a game of pool. The staff are absolute gems, always ready with a smile and a quick word, making it a brilliant place for catching up with mates without any fuss. On the flip side, it's a bit of a shame there's no food on offer, so you might find yourself nipping out for a snack if hunger strikes. Then there's the no-phones policy from the brewery, which can be a bit of a drag if you're used to scrolling through your phone, and the lack of entertainment means it's more about simple conversations than lively nights out. All in all, if you're after an honest, straightforward pub experience in Scunthorpe, it's well worth a visit – just go in with the right expectations for a quiet, traditional vibe.

-
It's open every day from noon until 11 PM, and being inexpensive means it's an easy choice for a casual meet-up without breaking the bank.
Cons
-

-
It lacks entertainment options, like no music or events due to the brewery's policies, which might make it feel a tad quiet at times.
-
Some parts of the pub seem underutilised, with reviewers mentioning big empty spaces that could be put to better use for something fun.

No food available, technology not allowed, Sam smith's ruling
Oi, Mr S Smith, bring back the Sovereign and allow phones to be used. And use that big empty space for an acoustic jam area. Great staff.
Great little pub, good selection of beers, a proper boozer.
Have been going here to meet with my mate for the past 29yrs. It's an old school pub. Good ale and a pub full of characters. Down to earth folk. With a game of pool too.
Always have a good time here with great friends as the company is good. Landlords are great people too. Only draw back with Sam Smiths brewery pubs is the fact there is no entertainments licence and they have a "no use of phones" rule which is disappointing.
