About This Pub
Ah, Highfield House in Scunthorpe – it's one of those spots that feels like a proper hidden treasure, with its stunning building and tidy surroundings that just draw you in for a chat and a drink. I have to say, the staff are an absolute delight, always making sure everyone feels welcome, and it's brilliant if you're popping in with your dog or fancy a game in the designated areas. The outdoor seating is spot on for those warmer days, and they've got decent beer on tap along with tea and coffee for a more chilled-out vibe. On the other hand, though, that rule about no phones and no music can make it all a bit quiet and underwhelming if you're after something more lively – it might suit a traditional crowd, but it could leave you wanting more excitement. Then there's the drinks; while the beer is affordable enough, the wines and spirits are overpriced for what you get, which feels a shame when not everyone's a beer fan. All in all, it's worth checking out for a relaxed pint and a bit of that old-school pub charm, but go in with your eyes open to the quirks, and you'll have a balanced experience.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The building is absolutely stunning, a real hidden gem in Scunthorpe that adds a touch of charm to your visit.
-
The staff and regulars are incredibly welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's wonderfully dog-friendly, so you can pop in with your four-legged mate without any hassle.
-
They serve up good beer and even offer tea and coffee, which is spot on for a more relaxed daytime stop.
-
There's plenty of outdoor seating and dedicated areas for games, perfect for enjoying a sunny day or a friendly match.
Cons
-
The strict no phones and no music rule can make things feel a bit dull and lacking in atmosphere at times.
-
Prices for wines and spirits are ridiculously high for the quality, which might put a dampener on things if you're not just after a pint.
-
It doesn't cater as well to non-beer drinkers, as the options can feel limited and not everyone will be chuffed with that.
-
The place might be a tad tricky to find, so you'll have to keep your eyes peeled when you're out and about.

Nice smart pub but the rules of no phones and no music makes it a dull place
Beautiful building, prices ridiculous, for poor quality wines and spirits, beers cheap enough but not everybody drinks beer, about time they started thinking of their customers and not their own ego
So found this pub whilst working away, you would have to look for it to find it. But I was made to feel welcome by the staff and customers great place. Had a game of pool after not playing for 2 years the land lord lent me his cue so I could play. Genuine nice place and people 👍
Hidden gem of Scunthorpe.
