The Pig & Fiddle, Bath

The food's another highlight – think mouthwatering roasts and fresh twists on pub favourites that leave you satisfied without breaking the bank. It's dog-friendly and child-friendly too, which is brilliant for those family days out or if you're wandering around with your pooch after visiting the nearby Roman Baths. On the flip side, though, some of the tables look a bit knackered from all the action, so it doesn't quite have that brand-new shine everywhere. And watch out for the Sunday kitchen hours; there's a gap in service that might catch you out if you're not planning ahead.
