About This Pub
Ah, The Pig & Fiddle – it's one of those pubs in Bath that just feels like a proper local gem, you know? I've got to say, the staff really stand out; they're so cheerful and on point, making sure everything runs smoothly whether you're in a big group or just popping in for a quick one. The food's another highlight – think mouthwatering roasts and fresh twists on pub favourites that leave you satisfied without breaking the bank. It's dog-friendly and child-friendly too, which is brilliant for those family days out or if you're wandering around with your pooch after visiting the nearby Roman Baths. On the flip side, though, some of the tables look a bit knackered from all the action, so it doesn't quite have that brand-new shine everywhere. And watch out for the Sunday kitchen hours; there's a gap in service that might catch you out if you're not planning ahead. All in all, it's a solid choice for a pint and a chat – I'd pop in without hesitation, but maybe keep expectations realistic for the little niggles.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant – friendly, attentive, and really make you feel at home, like chatting with old mates over a pint.
-
The food is spot on, with hearty seasonal dishes, delicious Sunday roasts, and a cracking brunch menu that hits the spot any time of day.
-
It's got a lovely, recently refurbished vibe in the heart of Bath, making it a great spot for watching live sport or just relaxing in the beer garden on a sunny day.
-
They're super welcoming to dogs and kids, so it's ideal for family outings or a casual meet-up with furry friends.
-
The drinks selection is top-notch, featuring award-winning Butcombe beers and ales that pair perfectly with the pub classics.
Cons
-
Some of the furniture, like the tables, shows a bit of wear and tear, which might take away from the overall polish in places.
-
The kitchen hours on Sundays are a tad split, with a break in service, so it might not suit everyone if you're after a seamless meal.

We visited The Pig and Fiddle as a group of 15, and I can’t speak highly enough of the experience. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome, and everything ran smoothly thanks to Charlotte, who was absolutely fantastic. She was friendly, attentive, and incredibly helpful throughout our visit — nothing was too much trouble.
The food was excellent, the atmosphere was lively and warm, and the service was top-notch. It’s not easy accommodating a large group, but the team handled it brilliantly. We’ll definitely be coming back. Huge thanks to Charlotte and the rest of the staff for making it such a great night!
Charlotte was an incredible waitress! Super accommodating to our large group and a delicious Sunday roast!
Our roast was super delicious and our server Charlotte was super nice, cheery, and prompt. Wonderful lady!
Up market Butcombe pub and rooms. We had a January deal, £89 for weekday room, including breakfast Room was spotless and nicely decorated. A drink from the bar was included on arrival, nice touch. Staff all friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious, high quality, local produce. We could choose anything from the menu, including a lovely smoothie.
We're visiting Bath with a tour group, staying across the road. Looked like an interesting place to have a meal. We weren't disappointed. The tables are quite worn but the atmosphere is OK. Our waitress Mabel was very friendly and helpful. The food was very good.
