About This Pub

You know, chatting about The Palmer Arms feels like recommending a favourite spot down the road – it's this cosy country pub in the heart of Dorney that's all about keeping things relaxed and enjoyable. The food really stands out; they've got classic British dishes made with fresh, seasonal ingredients, and they do a cracking job with options for different diets, whether you're after a hearty roast on Sundays or something lighter from the lunch menu. The service is spot on too – the team are always on hand, quick to sort you out and make sure everything's just right, which makes for a proper pleasant visit. It's dead family-oriented as well, with a playground and kids' choices that mean the whole gang can have a good time, and it's great that they welcome dogs and have accessibility sorted. On the downside, it can get a tad lively and noisy when it's packed, and parking might not be straightforward if you turn up at a busy hour, so planning ahead could save a bit of hassle. All in all, it's a solid pick for a laid-back meal, a catch-up with mates, or even a wander in the nearby countryside – I'd say it's worth a visit for anyone looking for that authentic pub experience with a few modern touches.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Service is top-notch – the staff are friendly, attentive, and really efficient, making you feel right at home.
  • It's brilliantly family-friendly, with a kids' menu, half portions, and even a playground to keep the little ones entertained.
  • Dog-friendly and wheelchair accessible, so it's easy for everyone to join in, no matter their needs.
  • Lovely outdoor seating in the garden, perfect for soaking up the countryside vibes on a sunny day.
Cons
  • It can get a bit noisy inside, especially when it's busy, which might make conversations a challenge.
  • Parking can be tricky at peak times, so you might end up hunting for a spot if you're visiting during the rush.
  • Every now and then, there might be a small mix-up like a forgotten item, though it seems rare based on what I've heard.

Had a large family dinner here and such a lovely time. Food was delicious and quick (although think it was a bit quieter for a Saturday night). Very good service. Dog friendly, wheelchair accessible and options for all diets can be catered for. Highly recommend.

Delicious well prepared food & great service. Exceptionally good if you have dietary queries or requirements. Good parking except at peak times. Not many soft furnishings, so can be noisy depending on other clientele!

A lovely local english pub! Great access for parking. Outdoor seating is plenty and very comfortable. Playground for the 7+yo kiddies, and chickens for the younger kids. Food was absolutely delicious, and super quick! Service was attentive and friendly. A plate we ordered was forgotten, and they swiftly arranged it and took the cost off the bill! I recommend the Palmer Ale!

Everything about our visit was fantastic. The staff were very attentive, service was really quick between courses and thorough when checking everyones order was correct when orders were made. Its also a very nice setting. The food itself was really good, we ordered a variety of things from the menu and kids menu, everything was really well cooked and to order. Highly recommend the lamb rump and baileys creme brulé. The kids menu is very well priced with good portions, the play area at the back is also nice for the children.

Brilliant meal tonight, the pub was full and have a wonderful atmosphere. We were seated very quickly and it was warm and comfortable. We were attended to really, really well. The staff were ultra efficient and “on the ball”. Extremely helpful and attentive. We order a main each and a dessert. Everything was cooked to perfection (1 rib eye steak and 1 sea bass was ordered). Ordered an extra portion of vegetables and some gravy, everything was delicious. Photos included in this review. For dessert we ordered 1 apple & raisin crumble & 1 Sticky Toffee Pudding which was delicious. (Sorry I forgot to take a photo) Definitely recommend this pub to anyone & we’ll definitely return really soon. Service was fast and really efficient. Well done to all 👏🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
