Really really great experience here for lunch. My mum came to visit me at Uni and we brought the dog. Our server Ollie was absolutely fantastic, very knowledgeable and super friendly. The food was all excellent and ginormous portions, it also came out so quick. We didn’t catch the names of the other servers but they were equally as lovely. We will definitely be returning in the future.
The Otter. Had a nice lunch, the food was good, although like most places now, it was a touch pricey. Staff were friendly and plenty of choice for drinks. The atmosphere was pleasant and comfortable and although it was raining when we went, the outdoor seating had great views overlooking the river. Would recommend
I had lunch here today with my mum. It's a beautifully decorated pub and has an upmarket feel to it. A few people were dressed very smartly. A nice choice on the menu of full main meals like Beef Bourginon and Fish and Chips, through to pizzas, salads and smaller bites like Beef Brisket sandwich. I had the Bacon Chop from the main menu and mum had Katsu Chicken. The chop was lovely, hardly any fat to cut off and not at all chewy. It came with pineapple and egg and both were very good, the dry peas just let the dish down. A bit of butter maybe would help this or replace it with a different veg. I had a bit of the Katsu and the flavour was amazing. The staff were all very polite and there was a nice atmosphere as it was fairly busy. Be aware the car park is a bit of a Jenga type thing. You have to turn off a fast road and get a lane to turn but getting back on the road exiting needs some skill. The car park is quite a challenge too if you have a large car. The pub is right on the river though which gives lovely views if you're seated by the windows or the outside terrace. For the main menu a dish will set you back around £16 - £20 which seems to be the going rate for a good pub meal but the fillet steak is £30 alone. The toilets were immaculate although you have to walk up a fair few stairs to use them but there is a disabled/baby change on the ground floor so if you don't or can't do stairs just ask as it's hidden round the corner a bit. The bar looked extremely well stocked and I imagine that it's a buzzing place to be when busy.
Upscale pub with good service, comfortable seating and a great view of the River Soar. We ate dinner on a Sunday evening and really enjoyed the meals. The pie of the day was served with mash, vegetables and gravy and was nicely prepared. The lamb skewer was a lighter meal but my wife enjoyed it. Prices are on the higher side, but a great place for a better quality meal.
An absolutely faultless, Christmas's Day meal / experience!
Often, I've been for Christmas Day meals, only to be left disappointed by the food, service, or friendliness of the staff.
This far surpasses anything I've previously experienced!
I know it's hard for staff to work on Christmas Day, but these couldn't have done more for us. The team were all extremely friendly, and welcoming.
Our server (Ollie) couldn't have done more for us. He was always there for drinks orders, and even made time to chat, despite being very busy.
The food was exceptional and very presented.
The price, considering it was Christmas Day, was extremely reasonable too.
Even the little touches, such as a Christmas card, added to a very pleasant meal.
Thank you so much to The Otter, and their excellent team and service.
