About This Pub

Ah, the Kings Arms in Hathern – it's one of those pubs that just makes you smile when you think about it. From what I've gathered from the buzz around, it's got this warm, welcoming atmosphere that's spot on for families or a cosy night out. The food really steals the show; whether it's their mouthwatering burgers, hearty curries, or that unbeatable Sunday roast, everything seems to come out piping hot and full of flavour. And let's not forget the staff – they're often described as absolute stars, quick to greet you with a smile and make sure your meal arrives without a fuss. It's got all the perks too, like a lovely beer garden for soaking up the sun and being dog-friendly, which is brilliant if you're out with your four-legged friend. On the flip side, though, there are a few niggles; some have mentioned feeling pressured about how to order, which might mean you miss out on a cheeky discount, and occasionally, things can feel a tad rushed if you're there near closing. Overall, it's a solid choice for us pub enthusiasts – the positives far outweigh the downsides, and with a rating hovering around 4.2, it's clear most folks leave happy. If you're in the area, I'd say give it a go; it's all about that balanced experience that keeps you coming back for more.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • The food is spot on – think juicy burgers, spicy curries, and classic fish and chips that hit the spot every time.
  • It's got a lovely, relaxing family vibe, perfect for a casual get-together or a quiet meal with a loved one.
  • They've got a great pub garden where you can enjoy your drinks and grub outdoors, especially on a sunny day.
  • Being dog-friendly means you can bring your furry mate along, which is always a bonus for us animal lovers.
  • There are some cracking offers, like 30% off mains, and a varied menu that caters to all tastes, including those fabulous Sunday roasts.
Cons
  • Sometimes the staff might push you to order in a certain way, which could mean missing out on discounts if you're keen on using the app.
  • There have been instances where things feel a bit rushed towards closing time, like being hurried along when you're still enjoying a game.
  • While the overall experience is solid, it's not perfect for everyone, as a few folks have mentioned service hiccups that dampen the fun.

The wife and I drove out to this place for a first visit. Young ladies at the bar were welcoming and friendly. Food arrived quickly and served hot. All in all a worthwhile visit

This pub has standards that all others should refer to. I can't fault it. It`s not just value for money, a varied menu, and a well-presented interior. They have an exceptional lunchtime waitress who manages to be knowledgeable, friendly and courteous without overdoing it and interrupting the conversation. The salads here are to be noted because they are interesting with many different ingredients. It makes eating a salad a pleasure. I was impressed that the manager also took the time to thank us and say goodbye.

Food was good but we wanted to order drinks through the app but were pressured into ordering with a server instead meaning we couldn’t get the 10% off offered at the table. While playing pool, we were told to make our final game quick so the manager could go home despite the time being only 10pm and the pub not closing till 11pm. Edit in response to business reply: We did in fact inform our server that we wished to order through the app but was told that it was fine, she could take the order at the table, we didn’t need to worry about the app. As for staying open only for one small group, we ordered our last drinks at last call which was roughly 9:45, however it was roughly 10 when we were asked to make our last pool game a quick one, meaning that all of us had barely drank any of our drinks. I work in a similar industry and would never tell a customer to be quick so I could go home, I have also never been to a pub that would close an hour early than posted, especially on a Saturday evening.

Upon arriving, we were greeted by a very friendly member of your staff. She showed us our table. Then another lovely lady came to take our drinks order and returned with them. Then she took our food order and we didn't have to wait hardly any time at all before our food was brought out to us on plates that were lovely and hot, to keep our food hot. The 2 waitress that we had were absolutely fantastic, very pleasant and helpful and very efficient. The food was also absolutely fantastic and so delicious. We were a family of 7, dining at the King's Arms, and none of us can fault anything at all. We will be returning very soon. A***** Service! Well done!!

Hadn't been to the Kings Arms for a couple of years as our last visit wasn't a positive one. We popped in for tea tonight (Tuesday 6th May) and were very pleasantly surprised. The food was well cooked, well presented and piping hot. The customer service from the 2 young ladies we saw was exemplary. They were polite, friendly and efficient. There was a 30% off mains offer on so we had Steak & Ale Pie, Gammon, 2 soft drinks and one ice cream sundae for less than £30. Brilliant value but we wouldn't have felt cheated at full price. I'm sorry we didn't get the ladies names but they were rocking the customer service. We will be back!
