About This Pub

You know, I have to say, The Royal Oak really won me over as a lovely spot for a meal or a quick overnight stay. It's tucked away in this peaceful village, not far from the buzz of Loughborough and the airport, making it ideal if you're passing through or fancy a weekend escape. The food stands out – think hearty pub classics with a modern twist, all made from quality local produce, and they've got options for everyone, which is a real bonus. The rooms are just as impressive, feeling spacious and homely with that AA gold rating to back it up, perfect for a good night's rest after a day out. The team there are absolute stars, always friendly and attentive, which makes the whole visit feel warm and welcoming. On the flip side, it's worth noting that breakfast wraps up quite early, so if you're not an early riser, you might miss out. And there were a couple of mentions about things like the shower not being spot on, but honestly, these are minor gripes in what seems to be a generally fantastic place. All in all, it's a hidden gem I'd recommend for a relaxed pint, a tasty bite, or even a function – just keep those little details in mind for the best experience.

  • One or two niggles mentioned in reviews, such as a slight disappointment that wasn't detailed, but overall they're few and far between.

Stopped overnight for a nearby wedding. Friendly staff, rooms were clean, modern & spacious, parking on site & fields behind. Had breakfast in the pub in the morning which was nice and relaxed. A nice hidden gem, we'll be returning to sample the pub lunches & dinners at some point soon.

Very nice Inn that’s ideally located in terms of local towns and main road access. The rooms are quiet and spacious with beautiful fields and lambs to the rear. Restaurant was very nice with a broad, well designed menu. My food was very good. Breakfast was especially good. All staff were very helpful and friendly.

My husband and I ate at the Royal Oak last week. We both agreed that the meal was one of the best we have ever tasted. As a coeliac I am often disappointed at lack of choice but not here. I had asparagus with poached egg to start followed by pork My husband had smoked duck followed by a seafood pasta All these dishes were excellent.

Personally I loved this place, I stayed 4 nights with bed and breakfast. The location is very pleasant and quiet, the rooms are like terraced houses and feel like being at home. The room was clean and tidy and nice and comfortable. I loved the oak furniture. The only thing I did not like was a slight smell of sewage coming from the bathroom drain and a very noisy fan. The food was good and the service was friendly and helpful. There is free parking on site. I recommend this place for a quiet and comfortable stay.

Absolutely brilliant. Hotel rooms are super comfortable. Staff are excellent. Village is beautiful. Food is delicious. Highly recommended. Minor points are that breakfast could finish later by around 10 am as 8:45 am is way too early for people on vacation. Shower temperature in my room could not be adjusted and was too hot. Apart from that this was a stay from heaven.
