About This Pub

Ah, The Old Town Bar – it's one of those places that just warms you up from the moment you step in. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are absolute stars, always up for a chat and making sure everyone feels included, which really sets the tone for a great visit. The drinks selection is spot on too, with some tasty locally brewed beers that hit the spot without breaking the bank, and they've got events like karaoke and pub quizzes that add a fun twist and help build that community spirit we all love in a good pub. On the flip side, it's a shame about the opening times; starting in the afternoon means it's not ideal if you're after an early session, and being part of a chain might make it feel a tad less distinctive than some quirky independents out there. All in all, though, it's a solid choice for a laid-back evening – I'd say give it a go if you're in Stevenage, as the positives far outweigh the minor niggles, and you'll likely leave with a smile.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always making you feel right at home.
  • They've got a cracking selection of beers and drinks, all at reasonable prices, with some locally brewed options that are spot on.
  • The atmosphere is relaxed and community-focused, with fun events like karaoke and pub quizzes that really bring people together.
  • It's clean and tidy, with a cosy vibe that makes it feel like a proper local spot for a good chat and a laugh.
  • Food options are available and seem to hit the mark, adding to the overall enjoyable experience.
Cons
  • It doesn't open until the afternoon, which might not suit those looking for a morning pint or early meet-up.
  • As part of a larger chain, it can sometimes feel a bit less unique compared to independent spots, though it's still charming in its own way.

A great local pub in the old town area of Stevenage. The staff were very friendly and polite. The beer selection was very good and the beers we had vere very tasty 👍😁 Clean and tidy premises. A good local pub with people playing games, the TV was on in the background. Good is also available. A cosy log fire burning to warm you up on a cold winters evening. A definite return visit when I go back to the old town - thank you. Parking is on street around the local area.

This is becoming one of my favourite bars, the landlady puts the effort in to make sure people enjoy their visit. If your looking for a local that’s going to give you a friendly atmosphere, acceptance and community spirit in return then this is your place to go!

Best bar in Stevenage! Lovely staff, great choice of drinks at good prices, lots of effort put into their event nights (Karaoke, Pub Quiz), with nice food platters. Always feel at home here!
