About This Pub
Ah, the Mulberry Tree – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a warm hug when you walk in, you know? Tucked away on the high street in Stevenage, it's got that classic historic feel with a lively twist, making it a go-to spot for a casual meal or a fun night out. From what I've gathered from the chatter around, the food really shines; whether it's their mouthwatering burgers, generous sharing plates, or that legendary Sunday roast, it's all about fresh flavours and good value, especially with those lunch deals that won't break the bank. The staff are the real stars here, always on hand with a smile and efficient service that makes everything run smoothly. Pair that with a cracking selection of drinks and a beer garden that's perfect for soaking up the sun, and you've got a place that's spot on for families or even if you're bringing the dog along. On the flip side, though, it's not without its little niggles – getting in via the garden if you need easier access isn't ideal, and it can get a tad hectic on busier nights, so you might want to plan ahead. All in all, it's a solid choice for a pint and a chat; I'd say give it a try if you're in the area, as the positives far outweigh the minor downsides, and it's just got that authentic pub spirit that makes you want to linger a bit longer.
Pros and Cons
Pros

The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly, quick, and make you feel right at home, which really adds to the welcoming vibe.
-
The food is spot on; think tasty burgers, cracking Sunday roasts, and sharing plates that hit the spot, especially with those unbeatable lunch deals.
-
It's got a lovely atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed pint or a lively night out with a DJ on weekends, and the beer garden is just the ticket for a sunny day.
-
They've a great selection of drinks, from a wide range of beers and gins to cocktails, making it easy to find something for everyone.
-
Family-friendly and dog-friendly, so it's ideal if you're popping in with the little ones or your furry mate for a bite.
Cons
-
Access for those with disabilities is through the garden, which might not be the most straightforward or convenient way in.
-
The operating hours can seem a bit confusing at times, with some days extending late and others wrapping up earlier, so it's worth double-checking before heading out.
-
It can get quite busy, especially on weekends, which might mean a wait for a table or a bit of a crowd if you're after a quiet evening.

Fantastic service. Stopped off for a few mix and share plates and sides. We had the hummus and flatbread, Cod goujons, Sticky chicken and cheesy garlic bread everything was lovely.
Good atmosphere and good food, can't say anymore 😄
Staff are great as always. Had a really lovely meal here and the prices aren’t too bad, especially with their lunch deal. They have a great selection of beer and gin and always a great night out
Come in here all the time with my partner. Staff are always great, quick and friendly service with both drinks and food. Highly recommend the hot Nashville burger and a margarita. The misses enjoyed her cherry Bakewell. Recommend a weekend night too as they always have a DJ and it’s always a vibe
Had Sunday lunch here with the family. Everything about the food was amazing, all cooked perfectly. My 2 children also really enjoyed their food which is unusual for them !
The staff were really friendly and courteous. Will definitely be returning and recommending one of the best roasts we’ve had in a pub in a while !
