About This Pub
Ah, The Old Duke – it's one of those spots that just warms your heart if you're after a proper British pub experience with a musical twist. Tucked away in Bristol, this jazz and blues bar has live music pumping every single night, and the best part is, it's free to get in, so you can pop in without planning ahead. The atmosphere is lively and full of energy, especially when the tunes are flowing, and the staff are absolute stars, always ready with a smile and quick service. They've got a good range of drinks on offer, from classic ales to ciders, which pairs nicely with the historic surroundings dating back to 1775. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect – I've heard a few grumbles about some drinks not quite living up to expectations or being a tad on the expensive side, and it does get rammed on busy nights, which might put you off if you're not keen on crowds. Still, for anyone who enjoys a bit of music with their pint, it's a brilliant choice that captures the spirit of UK pub culture, and I'd say it's well worth a visit for the good times it delivers.
Pros and Cons

-
The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It has that authentic, traditional pub vibe with a historic building from 1775, which adds real character and charm.
-
A solid selection of drinks like ciders, ales, lagers, wines, and more, so there's something for everyone.
-
It's open late, especially on Fridays and Saturdays until 1am, great for lingering over a few pints.
Cons
-
Some drinks might not hit the mark, like one person found their pint underwhelming compared to elsewhere.
-
It can get a bit pricey for what you get, as mentioned by a few, so keep an eye on your wallet.
-
The place often gets absolutely packed in the evenings, making it tricky to find a seat or move around comfortably.

Great traditional pub. Friendly lively atmosphere. Music every night of the week. Great service from friendly staff. If you like music. This is the place to go
Absolutely cracking pub, it's the epitomy of what the UK pub culture offers that others imitate. Do not delay on having a night out here.

Absolutely loved this old school, authentic pub. Great buzz and even better that it has live music - we came 3 times during our trip to Bristol.
A must visit in Bristol!
The 3 nights I was in Bristol I went every evening. I participated in the open mic night, listened to other performances, the bottom line is I enjoyed it tremendously.
The music was great, inspiring and authentic.
The people behind the bar are kind, attentive and helping.
I fell in love. In love with the place, the atmosphere and a beautiful woman.
Bristol hasn’t seen the last of me.
This pub is directly opposite the Llandoger Trow, where I had my first pint. My 2nd pint of Timothy Taylor boltmaker wasn't so good, and it was more expensive. However, they do have good music blasting out!! And it seems more popular especially in the evening when the whole area was rammed....
