About This Pub

Ah, Seamus O'Donnells – it's one of those spots in Bristol that just feels like a proper gem, you know? From what I've gathered from folks' experiences, it's got this brilliant welcoming vibe that's especially spot-on for the LGBTQ+ crowd, making it a safe and comfortable place to unwind. The staff are absolute stars, always on point with service and offering a cracking selection of drinks at reasonable prices, plus those drag shows on weekends add a real spark of fun that keeps things lively. It's perfect for a casual pint after work or soaking up the sun outside if the weather plays ball. That said, it's a cosy little spot, so it can get a bit tight if you're with a larger group, and there have been a few tales of minor dramas that pop up now and then, but overall, it doesn't overshadow the good times. If you're after a pub that balances a traditional Irish feel with a modern, inclusive twist, I'd say give it a go – you'll likely leave with a smile.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming and inclusive, making it a safe haven especially for the LGBTQ+ community – it's like finding your second home in Bristol.
  • Staff are professional and attentive, always on hand to make sure you're well looked after, with a great selection of drinks that won't break the bank.
  • They've got fantastic drag shows and entertainment, particularly on weekends, which really liven up the place and make for a memorable night out.
  • Outdoor seating is a lovely touch for enjoying a pint in the sun, perfect for those after-work catch-ups or a relaxed afternoon.
  • It's got that authentic Irish pub vibe with cheap pints and a cosy feel that just draws you in.
Cons
  • Being a small pub, it doesn't accommodate large groups, which might leave you feeling a bit squished if it's busy – not ideal for bigger gatherings.
  • There have been occasional hiccups, like reports of disturbances or fake reviews, which can sometimes mar the otherwise great experience.
  • The schedule might be a tad confusing with varying closing times, so it's worth double-checking to avoid any disappointment.

Irish bar and a gay bar. Strange combo right? Well its a lovely welcoming atmosphere as a queer person. It always feels safe. There are door staff on the weekend, which keeps idiots out. They do not allow large groups. its only a small pub. It's usually free entry with the exception of the occasional ticketed event. They have charity fundraisers once a month. Great live music, and drag performers every weekend. The bar staff are the highlight. Super friendly with great personality.

10/10 bar. Professional and attentive staff. Great drinks selection. Great drag shows. Disappointed to see fake reviews from Kinky Boots cast who assaulted the door staff after being asked to leave last night. Witnessed the whole thing and will be writing to the production company.

Lovely little pub with drag shows at the weekend. Cheap pints, great atmosphere. They have outdoor seating so you can enjoy the sun, when it's out. It's a good spot for an after work pint.

What an absolutely amazing night. No better Irish bar that I've been to. Jam Tart, Demeanor McCall, Chris on the decks and a whole amazing team of staff and management. If you want to be entertained and looked after then a visit to Seamus O'Donnells is an absolute must. Get yourselves in for a pint of the black stuff along with a side serving or sass, class and amazing service. ☘️🍀☘️🍀
