About This Pub
You know, when I popped into The Old Crown Inn, it really struck me as one of those places that just gets it right – it's got that warm, welcoming feel from the moment you walk in, with staff who go out of their way to make sure you're looked after. The food is a standout, offering up delicious, hearty options that pair perfectly with a cold pint, and it's all served in this beautifully quirky interior that's cosy and inviting. Then there's the garden, which is an absolute treat for sunnier days or if you're planning something special like a wedding or a get-together with mates. On the downside, it does tend to fill up quickly, so you might find yourself waiting a tad longer than you'd like to get served, and it's a shame it's closed on Tuesdays when you fancy a quick escape. All in all, it's a cracking spot for anyone looking for a proper pub experience with a bit of flair – I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area.
Pros and Cons
Pros

-
The food is absolutely spot on – think hearty countryside classics like sausages and mash or Cajun salmon that really hit the mark.
-
It's got a lovely, cosy interior with a quirky vibe, perfect for settling in with a pint by the fire.
-
The garden is a real highlight, ideal for lazy summer days, weddings, or parties, adding a touch of magic to any visit.
-
Being dog-friendly means you can bring your four-legged mates along, which is brilliant for country walks followed by a stop-off.
Cons
-
It can get quite busy at times, leading to a bit of a wait for ordering or service, even if the atmosphere is buzzing.
-
The pub is closed on Tuesdays, which might throw a spanner in the works if you're after a mid-week outing.

We recently held our wedding celebration in the garden lodge and it was absolutely amazing! Neve was fantastic throughout the process, helping us to create a menu that was perfect for us, accommodating some very fussy eaters and every single one of our wishes was met. The pub is beautiful inside and out, every meal we've had has been fantastic, which was our main reason for booking! The welcome is always friendly and all of the staff know their menu inside out, happily recommending things!
We cannot thank the whole team at the Old Crown enough, our wedding was exactly how we wanted it to be; so relaxed! Would highly recommend for any occasion 🫶
Lovely pub. Sat in the garden and had a roast after a lovely walk nearby. Would highly recommend!
Called in whilst walking the hills in the area. Very nice pub, with a quirky interior and several small rooms which gives it a cosy atmosphere. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We had drinks and a meal. The food was lovely, we had Sausages and Mash and Cajun Salmon. We'll return on our next trip to Bath.
Staying local and pub was recommended. Main bar really busy which was great to see - we were sat at the back in their extension - again busy with big groups.
Welcomed by numerous members of the Team including some cheeky banter - menus provided quickly and despite a wait to order - possibly due to the numbers being served not an issue. Waitresses' first night; she was overly apologetic as took her time to find the items we wanted to order - again not an issue - she was really lovely.
Great deal for the fish and chips and a pint - husband really enjoyed along with the "special" beetroot starter - I had mushrooms and salmon - again very tasty.
Overall great place - would like to return in summer months to make the most of the garden
A fantastic pub in a fanatic location, it’s got everything from a locals bar which is always friendly as well as a great in door out door space at the rear, really nicely and tastefully done and rarely too busy to get served, food is great and plenty of it so a big tick from me. Dog friendly and has some really great walks locally, bus stop out side if you fancy more beer. Well worth a visit or two 👌
Another fantastic meal, really great atmosphere and beer was tasty. Thank you to the staff who made our evening very special.
Still a fantastic pub and restaurant, we had a great time, staff are all so friendly and the food was really great.
