About This Pub

You know, chatting about The Locksbrook Inn feels like sharing a pint with mates – it's got that warm, inviting feel right from the start. Tucked away by the canal in Bath, it's an absolute gem for anyone looking to unwind with some proper pub grub and a scenic backdrop that makes every visit special. The food really hits the spot, with hearty classics and thoughtful options for vegetarians and vegans, and I've heard great things about their deals, like the burger and beer night. It's spot on for families or if you're out with the dog, and the beer garden is just the ticket on a nice day. On the downside, there might be the odd mix-up with orders, especially if the kitchen's stretched, so popping in a pre-order could save the day. All in all, it's a solid spot that does most things right, and I'd say it's well worth a visit for a relaxed evening or a quick stop after a cycle – just keep those little niggles in mind for a smoother experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The stunning riverside location makes it a perfect spot for a relaxing pint with beautiful views of the canal.
  • They serve up delicious traditional pub food, with plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans, and it's all reasonably priced.
  • It's wonderfully family and dog-friendly, so you can bring the little ones or your furry mate along without any fuss.
  • The outdoor seating and beer garden are brilliant for al fresco dining, especially on a sunny day in Bath.
  • The staff are generally welcoming and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
Cons
  • There can be occasional hiccups with food orders, like missing items on dishes, which might leave you a bit disappointed.
  • Kitchen limitations could mean delays or issues for larger groups, so it's best to plan ahead if you're with a crowd.
  • Some menu items, like the roast dinners, might not always include everything you'd expect, such as shared veg portions.

We are a group of 10 female cyclists and we pre-ordered lunch at the Locksbrook Inn on 9/6/25 because we were on a tight timeline that day. And everything was absolutely perfect! Beautiful riverside location, plenty of room for our bikes, great welcome, really great food and very prompt service. We all had a lovely time and highly recommend to others.

Excellent pub by the river towards the end of the Bristol-Bath cycle path. Great outdoor seating, really accommodating staff, and the food was great! We were lucky that we managed to get the GBP15 deal on Thursday eves for a burger and beer. It was so tasty! Will definitely come back.

We were staying nearby and walked down to the pub. It is a friendly pub on the river and has both inside and outside seating. We started with the salt and pepper squid with us sharing the fish and chips and casserole of fish. All of the food was outstanding tasting great. The service was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is great for all.

*After posting my experience, Susie reached out to me to personally apologise for the behaviour of the one staff member. She explained that the kitchen facilities are limited so pre orders are very important to help organise groups and that there had been an issue with double ordering of one of the group. I would advise getting all the orders of your group before booking more than 12 people to avoid confusion in the future. So I will caveat that this has been my first bad experience at the pub and I give 2 stars as the experience was rectified due to what I assume is a more senior member of staff. I would not recommend the pub for large bookings as I've been told their kitchen cannot process more than around 12 ish orders at the same time. There had been a mistake with the orders where a waitress came over with an extra pizza as part of the prebooking (which I have the email I sent was not included) and when we told her it was not ours and we didn't accept it either she replied with 'well its YOUR mistake so YOU will be charged for it' I then showed her my email and I thought it had been sorted. Go to pay and see another pizza added to my bill and actually didn't realise because when paying the staff member (another person) repeated to me that I was paying for 2 Pizzas and one side which is what I was expecting. But when I look at the receipt I was charged for the extra 'mistake'. There are always issues with group orders and it was reasonably busy that evening so to be charged when we didn't eat (and this has happened maybe once in a few other restaurants over the years) but no one has ever insinuated i was lying? And charged me for something I didn't accept?! It really left a bad taste in my mouth. Someone has said it had changed hands recently so I would really look at retraining or hiring practices because the level of service from one person to another was so different. Kitchen staff and the guy who fixed my order was great 👍

I went today for a family roast. We ordered two roast chicken roasts and a childs burger as there was no children's roast option. Although the food was nice we only had vegetables to share! The roast was £18 and I believe having vegetables on a roast dinner would be standard. On the menu it doesn't say "you will be sharing these vegetables with another meal on the table". I mentioned this to the bar staff and even they have said "it's our number one complaint, I'll pass it onto the kitchen again".
