About This Pub

Ah, The Globe – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot for a relaxed day out in the Bath countryside. From what I've gathered from folks' chats online, it's buzzing with positive vibes after a smart refurbishment that's left the place looking sharp and well-kept, making it feel like a proper homely retreat. The food stands out as a real winner; think hearty pub favourites done with care, using fresh ingredients and presented with a bit of flair that elevates the whole experience. The team behind the bar and in the kitchen are absolute gems, always on hand with a smile and that extra effort to ensure everything runs smoothly, which really adds to the cosy, fireside charm. It's spot on for anyone with a dog in tow, or just wanting to soak up the local scenery. On the flip side, though, there have been a few murmurs about the odd menu item not quite hitting the mark, like that calamari starter that didn't quite match up to what some expected, so it pays to keep expectations in check. All in all, it's a solid choice for a pint and a bite, with that classic country pub feel that makes you want to linger a while – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as the good far outweighs any minor niggles.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The refurbishment has really freshened things up, making the place feel crisp and inviting, like a proper country escape.
  • The food is spot on – hearty classics with high-quality ingredients and lovely presentation that adds a nice touch.
  • Staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always going the extra mile to make you feel welcome, which makes for a warm, relaxed vibe.
  • It's brilliantly dog-friendly, perfect if you're out for a walk and fancy a pit stop with your furry friend.
  • The atmosphere is just charming, with comfy spots by the fire or in the garden, ideal for unwinding after exploring the area.
Cons
  • There might be the odd disappointment with some dishes, like the calamari not quite living up to expectations, which could put a slight dampener on things.
  • Opening times seem a bit variable from the schedule, so it's worth double-checking to avoid any surprises if you're planning a visit.

We were pleased to return to the Globe after a refurbishment. This business feels well run and the surroundings crisp and fresh. We were pleased with the food we ordered and felt that extra trouble had also been gone to with its presentation. The standard of cooking was high and the ingredients were of a high standard. The portion size is on the generous size, which is also a plus. So no surprise to say that we will definitely be back at some point in the not too distant future.

Lovely to see that the Globe has had a refurbishment. We are regulars here, but it was our first time since the makeover. We are always welcomed by Sophia and the rest of the team, and always have a lovely meal. When we visited last Thursday, we were looked after by Henry, who was extremely friendly and went out of his way to take care of us - he is a credit to The Globe. Thanks, Henry!

Atmosphere and staff were amazing. The main food was tasty and fresh. The only disappointing part was the calamari starter which didn’t exactly resemble calamari as we were expecting rings. Other than that, the food and service were amazing

Such a lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere in The Globe! Comfy chairs, a crackling fire … and our dogs were welcome too. The cheese platter was delightful - we’ll definitely recommend this pub.
