About This Pub
Ah, The Nip & Tipple – it's one of those pubs that just warms your cockles from the moment you step in. I've heard from a few mates who've popped by, and they're all raving about the staff; they're dead chatty and make you feel right at home, whether you're there for a quick pint or a full meal. The food's a real highlight too – imagine tucking into a massive mushroom and tarragon pie or a Sunday roast with lashings of gravy; it's all homemade, tasty as anything, and at a fair price that doesn't sting the wallet. Plus, being queer-owned, it has that extra layer of inclusivity with events that bring the community together, which is brilliant to see. On the flip side, though, it's only open three days a week, so you might find yourself planning around that, and their website's a bit sparse, which means you could end up winging it a touch. All in all, if you're in Whalley Range and fancy a relaxed spot for good nosh and a laugh, it's worth checking out – just keep an eye on their hours to avoid disappointment!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always up for a bit of banter which really makes the place feel like a proper local haunt.
-
They've got some cracking food on offer – think hearty pies, tasty Sunday lunches, and brilliant brunches that are generous with portions and packed with flavour.
-
It's a queer-owned spot with a solid selection of drinks and a great lineup of events throughout the year, adding a nice community vibe.
-
Prices are moderate, so you get good value without breaking the bank, especially for the quality of grub and pints on tap.
Cons
-
It's only open a few days a week, which can be a bit of a letdown if you're hoping for a midweek pint or meal.
-
From what I can tell, their online presence is a tad limited, so you might not find much info before heading over, which could be handy for planning.

Lady bhind the bar was so nice would visit again pint was lovely
Friendly, long-standing queer-owned business in the heart of Whalley Range. Solid food choices, non-fuss, and a good selection of drinks. Michi is a great pub landlord and puts on a geat programme of events across the year, too.
Came on a weekday evening for a drink and some food and it was so good! I had mushroom and tarragon pie, and my partner had the spinach and feta, both were big portions and came with chips and a really nice side salad. Will definitely be back :)
New Sunday lunch menu is delicious!! Really good gravy, lamb/beef/pork/vegetarian options all looked great. Bar staff unsure which is their favourite - always a good sign!! Haha very friendly bar staff too. Very full and content now :) vegetarian pictured. Looks like not enough gravy, but plates are huge so there was actually plenty. Thanks! :)
Great New Brunch Menu 🤤
Went today for brunch after a recommendation from a friend. They were not wrong.
Lovely, tasty, and great value huge breakfasts.
Quality ingredients cooked and seasoned well and service as always with a smile and friendly banter.
We had the Royale and the Meat Breakfast. Can recommend both, huge filling portions and great for a hangover.
The 'grandpa sausages' are delish.
We will be back for Sunday Roast.
