About This Pub
Ah, Chorlton Tap – it's one of those places that just sticks in your mind after a visit, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews and the buzz around it, this pub really shines with its incredible range of craft beers and ales; folks rave about picks like the Marble Brewery sours or Wander Beyond brews, making it a haven for anyone who loves a good pint. The food's another highlight – think hearty Sunday roasts that are worth the occasional wait, and they've nailed the vegan options too, which is brilliant for keeping everyone happy. The staff come across as genuinely lovely, always up for a chat and making sure you're sorted, which adds that warm, welcoming touch. Plus, with outdoor seating and a lively atmosphere, it's ideal for a casual meet-up or even just soaking in the vibe with some tunes in the background. On the flip side, it's not all perfect; you might find yourself hanging about for food now and then, and if you're after a quiet real ale session, it can sometimes fall short later in the evening. The younger crowd gives it a energetic feel, but that might not suit if you're in the mood for something a bit more subdued. All in all, it's a gem in Manchester that's worth checking out – just go with an open mind and you'll likely have a great time, as long as you plan around the busier bits.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
Fantastic selection of craft beers and ales, with options from breweries like Marble and Wander Beyond that really hit the spot.
-
Delicious food offerings, especially the Sunday roasts and vegan options – they're spot on for a satisfying meal.
-
Friendly and helpful staff who make you feel welcome, turning a simple visit into a proper enjoyable experience.
-
Great atmosphere with music, outdoor seating areas, and a lively vibe that's perfect for catching up with mates.
-
Convenient location near Chorlton Metro with easy parking nearby, making it a breeze to pop in after a day out.
Cons
-
Occasional waits for food can be a bit frustrating, even if it turns out to be worth it in the end.
-
Sometimes the real ale selection runs low, particularly later in the day, which might disappoint if that's your go-to.
-
The crowd can lean towards a younger set, so it might not feel as cosy for those after a more relaxed, older crowd.
-
Card-only payments could be a hassle if you're out of cash or prefer to keep it simple with notes.

I made a review yesterday in a rash hangry mood and I realise that on reflection, everyone was lovely, the food was worth the wait and I would recommend this pub for a lovely Sunday roast.
25/04/24: what happened to Wander Beyond? Still a good range of craft ale. I had the Marble Brewery: Nilson lime & coconut sour. Quite exceptional really.
27/06/23: [photo update]
19/01/23: always a great choice of Wander Beyond Brewing. Back again for another smal session. Jeez the Quokka is stong!
08/10/22: formerly The Bar, Chorlton Tap boasts 4 Cask and 16 Keg lines. Brewery Tap for Wander Beyond Brewery. Not the first time here, part of the Chorlton Ale Trail, so much choice, with some brews not for the faint hearted! Sadly only took one photo whilst I was here, but I've also uploads a couple of photos of pump toppers from the Wander Beyond Brewery to give you a feel for what may be instore! Dog friendly 👍🏻
The bar is opposite Chorlton Metro so popped in with Paulicarus for a last pint. Very young crowd to an old codger like me. Large bar in the CAMRA 2023 Good Beer Guide. Sadly only one real ale left late on a Sunday afternoon. A Squawk brewery Pale Ale. Card only. Large front and rear outdoor seating.
One of the best vegan roasts we've ever had. Multiple vegan options, which is great. Really good food and even had vegan Yorkshire puds. Staff very friendly and helpful. Hubby said the beer was good too and he bought some to take home. Easy to find free on-street parking with a couple of mins walk. We'll be back!
Had short time in Manchester but a lot of choices. Thanks to Charlton Tap for not disappointing me. Worth to visit for such amazing craft beers. They have great variety of cask, keg, cider n delicious Mexican food. The most I love about atmosphere is they have two places for sitting. One with music n one without music so u can choose where u like to fit urself in that atmosphere. Staff is quite nice n helpful. If u compare the prices they r charging, it’s nothing what we paying in London city. Anyhow thanks for making our trip so interesting.
