About This Pub

Ah, The Navigation Inn – it's one of those classic country pubs that just feels like a proper gem in Warwickshire, over 100 years old and still going strong. I have to say, the food really stands out; whether it's a hearty Sunday roast or something like the fish finger bloomer, it's all freshly cooked with great ingredients that leave you satisfied. The beer garden by the canal is an absolute treat on a nice day, and it's so welcoming that even your dog can join in the fun. The staff are generally lovely, making you feel like you're catching up with friends, but I've heard a few tales of service being a bit unreliable – like waiting for someone to take your order when they said they would. Overall, it's a solid spot for a meal or a drink, especially if you're into that traditional pub feel, but it might benefit from sorting out the occasional slip-ups to make it truly unbeatable. If you're in the area, I'd definitely pop in and give it a go – just keep an eye on those service quirks!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think delicious Sunday roasts, juicy steaks, and fresh dishes that really hit the mark, all made with top-quality ingredients.
  • It's got a fantastic, welcoming atmosphere, especially with that lovely canal-side beer garden that's perfect for a sunny afternoon pint.
  • Service is generally friendly and attentive, with staff who make you feel right at home, like chatting with old mates.
  • Dog-friendly vibes all around, so you can bring your furry friend along without any fuss.
  • Plenty of options for everyone, from quality ales and wines to menus that cater for different tastes, including gluten-free and kids' choices.
Cons
  • Service can be a bit inconsistent at times, like when you're promised table service but end up having to head to the bar yourself.
  • It has the potential to be even better with a few tweaks, as some folks have mentioned it feels a tad haphazard in places.
  • Opening times might vary a bit, so it's worth double-checking if you're planning a visit outside the usual hours.

Decent place that could be amazing with some alterations. Staff are reasonably friendly, but service seemed a little haphazard. Was a nice day so we sat outside and were told someone would come and serve us, but no one did, so had to go the bar and order. I'm perfectly fine with this, just wish I'd have been told at the start, seemed odd they'd tell me different. Food came out relatively quick. Was very nice, however, I ordered the slow cooked pork belly as the online pictures looked delicious, however, the execution was very disappointing. No finesse or decadence, just a great big slab of meat plonked on top of a mountain of vegetables that were already swimming in gravy and lost all their crunch. Meat was overcooked and rind not cooked enough, no crispy crackling, just floppy undercooked fat. Advertised with a "bubble and squeek cake", which wasn't there, just roasties and veg. It was fine, the flavours were all there, just some attention to detail should be considered. We ordered the banoffee sundaes for dessert, and I will say these were fantastic! However, I wanted way more of that toffee sauce and crumb, it was so delicious, but there was only a sprinkle of each. Perhaps line the glass with the sauce, and maybe sprinkle some digestive or granola throughout the middle to add some extra crunch. Very good though, may come back just to have this again!

Called in for a drink on the way home. Never been here before but greeted like an old friend. A welcoming atmosphere with good drinks and even pastel del nata on the bar. Must call in again soon.

I recently had an outstanding meal here and can't stop raving about it. The Fish Finger Bloomer was a fantastic choice—great value and full of flavour! The service was spot on, with the team greeting us warmly and checking in if we wanted another drink. The atmosphere was vibrant, and everything was impeccably clean. If you're looking for a top-notch dining experience, this is the place to be!
