About This Pub
Ah, The Navigation Inn – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in the heart of Nottingham, tucked away by the canal where you can soak up the scenery with a cold pint in hand. I love how it's got that classic pub charm with plenty of indoor nooks for a quiet chat and outdoor spots that make the most of the canal views, especially on a warm day when you're watching the locks in action. The staff are an absolute treat; they're always cheerful and go out of their way to make sure everyone's comfortable, whether you're popping in for a quick ale or a full meal. The real ales are spot on, and the food hits the spot for something simple and satisfying, like a good value lunch that leaves you feeling content. It's also super welcoming to dogs, which is a nice bonus if you're out and about. That said, it's not without its little flaws – the beer choices don't venture into craft territory, so if you're a hop-head looking for something unique, you might find it a tad basic. And while the grub is generally reliable, some dishes are more 'solid' than spectacular, so it won't blow your socks off if you're after gourmet fare. Overall, though, it's a cracking spot for unwinding with mates, and I'd say it's well worth a visit for anyone wanting a relaxed, friendly pub experience without the hustle and bustle.
Pros and Cons
Pros

The location right by the canal is absolutely charming, perfect for enjoying a pint while watching the boats go by on a sunny day.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in – they're always up for a chat.
-
They've got a great selection of real ales and tasty food options, like hearty burgers and breakfasts, all at a reasonable price.
-
It's a cosy spot with lovely indoor and outdoor seating, including beautiful plants that add a nice touch of greenery.
-
They're very dog-friendly, which is brilliant if you're out for a walk and fancy a stop-off with your furry friend.
Cons
-
The beer selection is a bit limited, with no craft options on offer, so if you're after something more adventurous, you might be disappointed.
-
Some of the food, like the burgers, is just okay rather than outstanding, so it might not wow you if you're expecting something fancy.

Lots of beautiful outdoor and indoor plants. The outdoor seats are the closest view to watch the canal lock. Which is really cool to watch on a warm day with a pint. Bar staff are always really friendly!
I visited on a Saturday night night once and I love that theres lots of nice indoor seating. Dim-ish lighting. The music they played was cool and at a conversational level. I couldn’t find a booth or private room but it’s totally furnished with different types of seating.
Came here to get away from the crowds at the castle pubs and it was a good choice! Reasonable selection of beers but no crafty ones! The burger was ok but a good foundation for the beer festival!
Love this place a great pub to chill watch the boats food was very tasty bar staff brilliant she was friendly polite very clean pub
We arrived for breakfast with minutes to spare and were OK to order which was much appreciated. We've eaten here before and always enjoyed it. We had a dog with us and we were made to feel very welcome. This is a great pub with lots going on, friendly staff and good food.
Took my mum and wife for a surprisingly good value lunchtime meal. Plenty of good real ales to choose from too. The couple behind the bar were also very helpful even though they were super busy. I really haven't got a bad thing to say about the place. Oh, and it's right next to the canal, with outdoor seating, so absolutely superb on a summers day.
