About This Pub

Ah, let me share my thoughts on the Royal Children in Nottingham – it's one of those spots that really warms you up on a visit. From the reviews, it's clear folks love the inclusive atmosphere where you can just be yourself, whether you're belting out tunes at karaoke or chatting over a drink. The service stands out too; even on a packed afternoon, they've got it sorted without any fuss. And with the new management stepping in, it's getting even better with heartfelt welcomes and a playlist that brings back some classic vibes. On the downside, it's got that well-worn look inside that might not wow you at first glance, and it does lean towards being a bit of a locals' haunt, so if you're not a regular, it could take a moment to feel fully at ease. All in all, with its decent 4.0 rating, it's a solid choice for a relaxed night out, and I'd say it's worth popping in if you're nearby – just go with an open mind and enjoy the good bits!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is wonderfully welcoming and inclusive, making everyone feel right at home, no matter who you are.
  • It's kept nice and clean, which always adds to the enjoyment of a good pint.
  • The service is spot on, even when it's bustling – one person handling the bar and still keeping things moving smoothly.
  • There's a fun vibe with things like karaoke, where you can let loose without any judgement.
  • New management seems to be injecting fresh energy, with warm welcomes and even playing great tunes like Motown for a real blast from the past.
Cons
  • The inside could do with a bit of a spruce-up; it's feeling a tad worn and in need of some modernisation.
  • It has that strong locals-only feel, which might make it a bit tricky for newcomers to settle in right away.

This pub has just been taken under new management. Us three old codgers went in Thursday afternoon. Wow we had the best welcome and they played Motown for us. What a blast. I'd like to wish to new landlady the very best. Thank you for such a very warm welcome

It was very busy Saturday afternoon only the one lady serving but she was very capable and everyone was served quickly unlike some pubs with a few serving and still queues

Been here 3 times ,honestly can say that this pub is full of acceptance. Feeling safe here, they let you be yourself here. Don't matter what gender you are all are welcome. Karaoke 🎤 they do not judge your voice all for everyone. The vibe in here is joy and full of people coming together! One of the best cheap places to come to have a wing along , laughs and to be who you are. Very friendly staff. Would recommend this place. Glad to be apart of it. Thank you everyone who has made me feel so welcome.

Does its best, but in dire need of a refurb inside. Very much a locals pub and without their support, this pub would struggle to survive. Has its own certain charm, if you visit on the right day.
