About This Pub

Ah, The Monks Bridge – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local haunt, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff are an absolute delight; they're quick, polite, and go out of their way to make sure everything's spot on, which really adds to that homely feel. The drinks are a highlight too – a solid range of beers and lagers at fair prices, and they're meticulous about pouring them fresh, so no worries about ending up with a flat pint. It's also brilliant for a relaxed evening with mates, thanks to the dog-friendly policy and the added bonus of a pool table and darts setup for some light-hearted fun. On the flip side, it's a shame they don't offer any food themselves, though grabbing something from the fish and chip shop next door and bringing it in seems to work well for many. The hours can look a bit confusing at first glance, and their website's not the easiest to navigate, but overall, it's a solid spot that delivers on the basics with a smile. If you're in the area, I'd say it's well worth a visit for a pint and a chat – you'll likely leave feeling like part of the crowd.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – friendly, welcoming, and they make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • Fantastic selection of drinks, especially the lagers, with reasonable prices that won't break the bank.
  • They've got clean glassware and pour pints just right, so you get a fresh, top-quality drink every time.
  • It's dog-friendly, which is great if you're popping in with your four-legged mate.
  • Loads of fun on offer with a nice pool table and a darts area that's tucked away, perfect for a casual game.
Cons
  • They don't serve food on site, though you can bring in something from the nearby fish and chip shop.
  • The operating hours seem a bit muddled from what I've seen, which might make planning a visit tricky.
  • Their online presence is a tad lacking, with website issues that could make it harder to check details beforehand.

Sadie the boss is great and I love the pub. Great bar staff and the lager can’t be beaten. Clean glassware meaning there’s no flat beer and the staff will pour a new pint if it isn’t to standard. Can’t fault the place.
