About This Pub
Oh, the Beech Hotel – it's one of those places that really pulls you in with its friendly vibe, especially if you're heading out for a match. I love how the staff are so welcoming; they make you feel like you're part of the gang straight away, which is spot on for away games or just a casual night out. The atmosphere is buzzing, particularly on football evenings, and they've got this great outdoor area that's perfect for soaking up the sun in summer, along with some lively entertainment that keeps things entertaining. The beers on offer are pretty decent too, giving you that proper pub experience. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect – I was a tad let down when I couldn't get a Guinness Zero because they only had Becks Blue for non-alcoholic choices, which isn't ideal if you're driving or taking it easy. And those £5 pints can feel a bit steep when you're trying to keep the night affordable. All in all, it's a solid pick for a good time with mates, as long as you go in with realistic expectations – the highs definitely outweigh the lows for me!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
Friendly staff who always make you feel right at home, especially if you're popping in as an away fan
-
Lively atmosphere on football nights with a welcoming crowd and no nonsense
-
Spacious outdoor area that's brilliant for summer drinks and they've got some cracking live entertainment too
-
A solid selection of beers on tap that hit the spot for a good pre-match pint
Cons
-
Not much choice for non-alcoholic options – they only had Becks Blue when I asked for something like Guinness Zero, which was a bit disappointing
-
Pints are on the steep side at £5 each, which can add up if you're out for the evening
-
It can get pretty packed on busy nights, making it tricky to find a spot or get served quickly

Good pub for an away game pre match. Was driving so asked for a Guinness zero but was told they don't sell it which surprised me as most pubs do these days. They only had Becks Blue which I don't like. Otherwise a decent place.
Cosy decent size pub with freindly staff.
Can get busy on football night as its the away team pub for town games but always a good atmosphere and never seen any trouble in 10+ years 🙏
Some really decent live entertainment and big outdoor area for summer (and outdoor stage)
It's not really an eating out place, they do sell sandwiches, cobs and basic pub snacks but no hot food, apart from the food van in the carpark, which is more a morning brekky van unless its a match day ( shame as its a great food van ) however many of the usual fast foods are on the same road 👍
Great away put for the away fans! £5 a pint little steep but it's a good meeting point before the game! Have tvs with sports on and have a good size beer garden
Great pub. Very warm welcome extended to us away fans from Cheltenham. Good beers on the pumps and the friendly staff were excellent. Really appreciated on a cold night.
Highly recommend
We were there on Saturday for the Oxford United match and the place couldn't have been more welcoming. The girls behind the bar were amazing!! The pints I had were good as well. Definitely hope we can come back here next season.
