About This Pub

Oh, Anglesey Arms in Burton-on-Trent is one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this welcoming atmosphere that's perfect for popping in after a long day – think cosy setting and staff who go out of their way to make sure you're looked after. The food's a highlight too; folks rave about the Indian-inspired menu, with dishes like the lamb burger and chicken tikka wrap being bang on for flavour and value, and don't even get me started on those tasty chips or a well-poured Bass. It's all pretty affordable, which is great for keeping things light on the wallet. But, let's be honest, it's not flawless – the menu's been cut back a bit since the changes, so if you're after a wide range of choices, you might feel a tad short-changed. And while the grub's generally good, there have been a few slip-ups, like steak that's a smidge overdone, which is a pity. Still, with an overall rating hovering around 4.5, it's clear most people leave with a smile, especially if you're in the area and fancy a relaxed spot that's more about good company than a packed house. All in all, I'd say it's worth a visit for a pint and a bite, just keep expectations realistic and you'll have a cracking time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly and attentive, making every visit feel warm and welcoming.
  • The food is a real treat; it's tasty, reasonably priced, and offers some creative options like Indian-inspired dishes that hit the spot.
  • It's got a lovely atmosphere in a nice setting, ideal for a relaxed catch-up with mates over a pint.
  • The beer selection is spot on, with classics like Bass that go down a treat.
Cons
  • The menu's been slimmed down a bit since they switched to more Indian-based options, so you might not find as much variety as you'd hope.
  • Some dishes can be hit or miss, like the steak coming out a tad overcooked now and then.
  • It doesn't always buzz with energy; it can feel a bit quiet, which might not be everyone's cup of tea if you're after a lively night.

First time here, since it's been turned into an Indian based menu. With that the selection was reduced, but the food was really nice. All whilst being quite reasonable. It wasn't too busy and the people there were very friendly. Great experience overall

Great Bass and great value food too! Our server was very helpful, particularly considering she was the only one on duty. Nice one!
