About This Pub

Ah, Mill House – it's one of those pubs that really warms the heart, especially if you're popping in with the family or just for a relaxed catch-up. From what I've gathered, it's got this fantastic setup with play areas indoors and out, so the kids can burn off some energy while you enjoy a decent meal or a cold one in the beer garden. The food's a highlight too; those affordable deals make it feel like a proper treat without breaking the bank, and the staff often shine with their helpful nature, sorting out things like allergies with real care. On the flip side, though, it's not always smooth sailing – I've heard tales of long waits when things get busy, and it can be a bit unpredictable, which might leave you wishing for a more reliable experience. All in all, it's a gem for family outings or a casual afternoon, but it's worth going in with a flexible mindset to make the most of it.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The pub has a brilliant family-friendly atmosphere with indoor soft play and an outdoor play area, making it ideal for a day out with the little ones.
  • Food offers great value, like the kids' breakfast for just £2.99, and there are tempting deals such as 'Tuck in for a tenner' on weekdays.
  • Staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, often going the extra mile to ensure everyone feels welcome and taken care of.
  • It's got a spacious beer garden perfect for unwinding on warmer days, and it's dog-friendly too, adding to the relaxed vibe.
  • Recent refurbishments have freshened up the place, making it feel inviting and well-maintained for a comfortable visit.
Cons
  • Service can be a bit hit and miss, especially when it's busy, leading to long waits for food that might leave you a tad frustrated.
  • Some experiences feel inconsistent, with the odd disappointing visit that could put you off returning for a while.
  • It gets quite hectic at peak times, which might not suit those after a quiet, laid-back pint without the crowds.

It was a very busy Saturday evening but the service was really good and the food was really nice. We will definitely be back as we have just moved to the area.

Such hit and miss here. Been coming often lately and this time I’m just more disappointed as I understand when it’s busy or short staffed things become harder however this has made me not want to come back for a while. Firstly waited about 45 mins for our food which is fine but what came made the wait seem worse. firstly my partners burger came without the patty! And the bun was rock solid. When we eventually got it, it was black. The steak was more than well done when he asked for medium. So £15 for a small portion size of 4 chicken wings, messed up burger and messed up steak is not the best. Then my roast dinner had practically no gravy. Had two ask twice before they remembered to bring me some. And the extra Yorkshire was rock solid. And the pigs in blankets was missing the bacon except for 1. Usually I’m obsessed with the roast and desserts and love coming here! Maybe it was just one of those days.

Charlotte in the soft play was amazing, took great care of me and my girls! She saw me in the bar, knowing the girls had allergies she took the initiative and dealt with my order efficiently. Thank you so much for the love. First time we’ve been and can’t wait to come back. Xx
