About This Pub

Ah, The Lyons Den Micropub in Kingswood, Bristol – it's one of those places that just warms you up from the inside out. I've got to say, the beer lineup is where it truly shines; they're all about those proper real ales and craft brews, like the robust Hedge Monkey or that refreshing Dune Twist IPA, which make every visit feel like a treat. The staff are dead chatty and make you feel welcome straight away, and with board games and quizzes on offer, it's perfect for a casual night out without any fuss. On the flip side, it's a bit straightforward in terms of decor – nothing flashy, so if you're expecting a posh setup, you might be underwhelmed. Plus, the cider selection is decent but could use more options, especially around here in the South West where we're spoiled for choice. All in all, though, it's a solid spot for beer lovers looking for good value and a relaxed vibe, and I'd definitely recommend popping in for a pint – just keep an eye on those opening times so you don't miss out!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer selection is absolutely spot on – they've got a cracking range of real ales, craft kegs, and ciders that really hit the spot, with some standout brews like that Hedge Monkey or the Dune Twist IPA.
  • The atmosphere is just lovely; it's got that chilled, rustic vibe that's perfect for a relaxed catch-up with mates, complete with board games on hand to keep things entertaining.
  • Staff are always friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in – it's like chatting with old pals behind the bar.
  • They've got fun events like pub quizzes, which add a bit of excitement and make it a great spot for a mid-week get-together.
  • Prices are moderate, so you can enjoy a pint without breaking the bank, and the overall rating speaks for itself – folks clearly love it.
Cons
  • The decor is a tad basic, so if you're after something fancy or polished, it might feel a bit no-frills.
  • Cider options could do with a bit more variety, especially in the South West where you'd expect a wider choice – it's good, but not quite as extensive as some might hope.
  • Opening hours are limited, typically wrapping up around 10 or 11 PM, and it's closed one day a week, which might not suit late-night plans.
  • While the focus is on great beers, there's the odd lager on offer that doesn't quite fit the craft theme, which some might see as a minor slip.

A micro pub in Kingswood that has a good (but not overwhelming) beer and cider menu (there was also a lager on offer today but we shall forgive them their sins). Friendly staff, board games and Tiny Rebel beer every time I have visited.

A lovely pub with a great atmosphere. Great beer, decent cider (although it could do with a little more variety *common, isn't this the south west?...), and lovely staff. Come along for the best pub quizz in Kingswood. *As far as I know this may be the only pub quizz in Kingswood, but that's beside the point. Even if you suck, you still get sweets 🍬🤟

Went there with 3 mates for a catch-up mid week. Great beers and decent prices. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Will be back soon

Great local beer selection. Very easy going, and usually quite busy. Fairly basic setting (hence 4 star). Go here for easy catch up with mates. Board games on the shelf is a great addition!

I live around 10 minute drive away and it's a shame I haven't visited sooner. I was meant to but plans got cancelled. But last night was the night I was sure to go. I love craft beer and things beer related. I was met with a rustic looking bar with a calming and chill atmosphere. The bar lady was down to earth and also got talking to the owner. This is a little gem of a place that will fast become my new local. I got talking to a local through the love of beer. The beer itself has a great selection at reasonable prices. You wouldn't expect to have a place like this in kingswood but I'm glad it's there.
