About This Pub
Ah, The Lower Angel – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot for a relaxed pint with mates. From what I've gathered from folks' chats online, it's got this genuine, old-school charm that makes you want to settle in for the afternoon. The beers are spot on, with a great range of cask ales that cater to all tastes, and at prices that feel fair without any surprises. I love that it's dog-friendly too; it's a rare find these days, and it adds to that community vibe where everyone, four-legged or not, feels included. Pop out to the back garden on a sunny day, and it's just perfect for a bit of downtime. On the flip side, though, it seems like the bar service can be hit or miss – one person mentioned waiting a bit too long and feeling invisible amid the crowd, which is a shame when the rest is so inviting. Still, overall, it's a solid choice if you're after a friendly spot to enjoy a drink without the fuss, and I'd say it's worth a visit for anyone in Warrington looking for that authentic pub experience.

-
They've got a fantastic selection of cask ales and beers on draft, with reasonable prices that won't break the bank.
-
It's one of the few dog-friendly spots in Warrington, which is brilliant if you're out with your furry friend.
-
The little garden at the back is a lovely spot to relax and unwind, especially on a nice day.
-
The staff and regulars are super chatty and make for a great social vibe, perfect for a casual catch-up.
Cons
-
Service at the bar can sometimes feel a bit overlooked, like you might have to speak up to get noticed during busy times.
-
There's no proper food on offer, just snacks like peanuts or pork scratchings, so you might need to head elsewhere for a full meal.

Quality old pub with a welcoming atmosphere. Great service and a good selection of beers on draft. Decent music on the jukebox as well!
Wow what a diamond, only dog friendly place in Warrington but wow 9 casks and plenty of other options for those who don't like cask, both staff and customers are lovely, friendly and welcoming, no food but plenty of choice of peanuts, pork scratchings etc to nibble on, I can't wait to come back...with Bruce, keep it up,
This well run pub is a true classic with a fine selection of cask ales and such a friendly clientele. Ideal for stopping off at if switching between Central and Bank Quay 🚂
Delicious beer at reasonable prices. The little garden at the back is great to relax. I found them much more welcoming to foreigners than other local pubs.
