About This Pub

Ah, Costello's Bar – it's one of those places that really stands out in Warrington for all the right reasons, but let's keep it real and chat about the ups and downs. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this warm, inviting atmosphere where you can kick back with a pint of their excellent real ales, brewed locally, which is always a winner in my book. The staff are mostly spot on, making you feel welcome and even sharing tips on the brews, and the beer garden is just the ticket for a sunny day. It's clean as a whistle and well-run, which makes it a go-to for a good night out. On the flip side, there was that one review about a staff member who seemed a bit off with new folks, which might leave you feeling a tad put out if you're not a regular. Plus, their website's a bit of a mess, so it's not the easiest to get the lowdown online. All in all, I'd say it's worth a visit for the great beers and lively feel, just go in with an open mind and you'll likely have a brilliant time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are generally brilliant and make you feel right at home, with most reviews raving about their friendliness and helpfulness.
  • They've got a fantastic selection of real ales, especially from local breweries like Dunham Massey and Lymm, which is a real treat for beer enthusiasts.
  • The atmosphere is spotlessly clean and welcoming, with a great feel that's perfect for a relaxed afternoon or evening out.
  • There's a lovely beer garden and plenty of outside seating, ideal for when the sun's out in Warrington.
  • It's well-managed and always buzzing, making it one of the best spots in the area for a pint and a chat.
Cons
  • One staff member has been mentioned as a bit unwelcoming to new visitors, which could put a dampener on your first trip.
  • The website seems a bit neglected and isn't very informative, so you might have to rely on Google for the latest details.
  • With mixed operating hours listed, it might be tricky to confirm if they're open, especially on quieter days.

Costellos bars are great but the lady in glasses in this one clearly doesn't like new customers......could do with a few tips from the Stockton Heath staff...maybe having a bad day because we brought about 50 people in to spend their money instead of somewhere else. Rest of the staff were great and didnt make shoot me now gestures.

We’ve got 8 cask ales pouring all brewed at either the Dunham Massey or Lymm breweries. Never a dull moment in here - Hoppy Monday’s = 30p discount on cask, Midweek Club and Fizz Friday. An 2024 Good Beer Guide entry.

Plenty of cask ale choice from the Dunhan Massey brewing company. Roomy with outside seating (it was a wet Wednesday evening). Pleasant informative bar staff. Regenerated area in Warrington. Has a great feel. I imagine popular at weekends and when the sun's out.
