About This Pub
Oh, let me tell you about The Lock & Quay – it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its relaxed and stylish feel, perfect for catching up with mates over a pint or a bite. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are an absolute delight, always up for a friendly natter and making everyone feel right at home, which is just what you want from a local spot. The food's another highlight; folks rave about the Sunday roasts and other dishes, with massive portions packed full of flavour and priced just right, so you get great value without skimping on quality. But, to keep it real, it's not all sunshine – I've heard a few mentions of the place feeling a bit nippy inside, especially on a chilly afternoon, which could put a damper on things if you're not prepared. And sometimes, the wait for your meal might drag on a little longer than you'd like, so it's worth bearing that in mind if you're popping in for a quick lunch. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for us pub goers looking for a welcoming haunt with good vibes and decent nosh, as long as you go in with realistic expectations.

After being closed for a year, we’re absolutely delighted to have Lock and Quay back as our local pub—and under new management, it’s better than ever! The moment you walk in, you notice the difference: the atmosphere is relaxed, stylish, and genuinely welcoming. Whether you're after a casual drink or a proper Sunday lunch, it's the kind of place that makes you want to linger.
One of the standout features for us is that it’s dog-friendly, which means we can bring our four-legged family member along without any fuss—a huge plus in our book.
The staff were fantastic—friendly, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about the food and the new chapter of the pub. It really felt like they cared about creating a great experience.
The food was excellent—classic pub fare done right, with quality ingredients and attention to detail. The old-style prawn cocktail was a lovely retro touch, fresh and generously portioned. The gammon steak was thick, juicy, and perfectly cooked, while the steak & ale pie was rich, comforting, and full of flavour. All this at very reasonable prices, especially given the quality.
We’re thrilled to see Lock and Quay thriving again and can’t wait to return. Best of luck to the new team—you’re off to a great start!
Dropped in to see how the new owners had changed the place.
What an amazing surprise.
Wonderful atmosphere and friendly chatty staff.
Food was wonderful and well priced.
Great local pub doing fabulous food.
Well worth a visit.
Just called in for lunch.... it was Saturday afternoon and the pub was freezing.... not heating or warmth.... also food took @ 30mins to arrive.. Chicken burger & steak pie.... the food was LOVELY... I can't say it wasn't, but it's not a nice place to sit comfortably especially with no heat.
Each time there is a new owner, we pop in on the hope it gets better... but sadly we wouldn't go again.
Had another amazing meal down at The Lock & Quay a few days ago , it really is worth popping down and trying it out down there .
The staff are brilliant , super friendly and helpful and Paul makes you feel really welcome .
Hopefully this place will just keep going from strength to strength and building on the great start it’s had in the last few weeks !
Went today for the Sunday Roast. Was absolutely AMAZING. We had a starter and a main. My mum had the prawn cocktail and beef roast. Both of which she said were fantastic. I had the soup of the day and the pork porchetta. Everything was just full of flavour and the portion sizes, were huge. My son had the kids tomato pasta and chocolate brownie and ice cream. He loved it. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Checked on us a couple of times, to make sure everything was OK, which we appreciated.
Recommended this place now to numerous people. Will definitely be coming back. Well done and thank you to you all 😊
