About This Pub
Ah, The Lighthouse Bar & Kitchen – it's one of those places in East London that really shines when it comes to dishing up some brilliant Caribbean food and hosting a cracking lineup of events, from cheering on the footie to dancing the night away on DJ weekends or easing into Soul Sundays with some classic tunes. The staff are genuinely warm and the spot's kept nice and tidy, which makes it feel like a welcoming harbour after a long day. On the flip side, though, I've heard a few tales that give me pause, like that unsettling spiking incident and some dodgy food orders where things didn't quite live up to the hype – missing sides or meals that were more bone than bite. The seating could do with a bit more comfort, and the bright lights might not suit everyone, but overall, it's worth a visit if you're up for a bit of adventure, just keep an eye out and go in with realistic expectations for a balanced night out with friends.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The Caribbean food here is absolutely spot on – think delicious curry chicken with rice and peas that could rival your nan's recipe, making it a top choice for a hearty meal.
-
Friendly staff who go the extra mile, creating a welcoming vibe that's perfect for unwinding with mates.
-
Loads of fun events like live sports on big screens, DJ nights on weekends, and those chilled Soul Sundays with smooth R&B tunes – ideal for a lively night out or a relaxed catch-up.
-
The place is spotlessly clean, from the toilets to the pool table, which adds to that comfortable, homely feel.
-
Decent beer selection and a versatile space that's great for private parties or just enjoying a game of pool.
Cons
-
There have been some worrying incidents, like reports of spiking, which really puts a damper on things and makes you think twice about safety.
-
Food quality can be hit or miss – some orders arrive incomplete or with subpar bits, like tough chicken loaded with bones instead of proper meat.
-
The seating is a bit uncomfortable, and the lighting can be glaring, which might spoil the atmosphere if you're after a cosy spot.
-
It seems like they don't always handle issues well, with a couple of experiences where folks felt rushed out without proper resolution.

Friend just got spiked, very nice people owning it but won’t make it far by trying to usher us out like that and ignore whoever did such a thing…
Just Eat order of 2 big box meals, neither came with any sides (mac & cheese and dumplings were ordered for both), plantain included in the order was also not delivered. Jerk chicken was very poor quality & 90% sharp bones/spine instead of thigh or other meat. Overall taste of chicken was good, but barely had any actual meat due to the above. Restaurant did not answer any calls to respond.
Would not recommend, plenty of other better jerk places in the local area.
Honestly the best Caribbean food I’ve had in my life. Had curry chicken with rice and peas and was absolutely lovely. Service was great and friendly staff. Also a nice environment with a bar and also had couple games of pool. Will definitely be back!!
Could be a really nice place! - good beer options but glaring lighting and seating is uncomfortable.
