About This Pub

Ah, the Green Goose – it's one of those spots in Bow that I've heard so many good things about from folks who've popped in for a pint or a bite. From what I've gathered, they really shine with their food; it's all about quality British classics done right, whether you're tucking into a proper Sunday roast or trying out their vegan dishes, which are surprisingly tasty and well-thought-out. The beer garden is another highlight – imagine soaking up the sun with an ice-cold craft beer or a refreshing spritz, perfect for those warmer evenings when you just want to unwind with friends. And let's not forget the pub quiz on Mondays; it's become a bit of a staple, with prizes up to £450, making it a fun, engaging night out that keeps the energy high. On the flip side, though, some have mentioned that the place feels a tad too polished, with bland decor and a generic soundtrack that doesn't quite capture the rough-around-the-edges charm you'd expect from an East End local. It's still a welcoming spot overall, with friendly faces behind the bar and a solid 4.4 rating, but if you're after that authentic, no-frills pub experience, it might not hit the mark every time. All in all, I'd say it's worth a visit for a relaxed meal or drink, especially if you're in the area near Victoria Park – just go in with an open mind and you'll likely have a great time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think classic British dishes with a twist, like their cyder battered fish and chips or those hearty Sunday roasts, and they've got brilliant vegan options too, so everyone's catered for.
  • The beer garden is a real winner, especially in the summer; it's the perfect spot for chilling with a cold pint or a spritz, making it ideal for relaxed get-togethers.
  • Friendly staff and a buzzing atmosphere, particularly on pub quiz nights – it's a fun way to spend a Monday with mates, and the drinks selection is top-notch with East London's best craft beers and cocktails.
  • Overall, it's got a solid vibe that's welcoming and lively, with high ratings from regulars who keep coming back for the good times.
Cons
  • The decor feels a bit bland and modern, which might strip away some of that traditional East End pub charm for those expecting a more authentic, old-school feel.
  • The playlist can come across as generic, which doesn't always add to the atmosphere and might leave you missing that soulful, local touch.

One of those refurbished pubs, seemingly aimed at rejuvenating the area. But the bland decor and generic playlist have stripped away its soul, leaving little of the east end boozer I wanted. The staff were friendly, but not enough to save the vibe

I’ve been a regular at Green Goose London for a while now, and honestly, it’s one of the best pubs around. The food is always top-notch—whether you’re after a proper hearty meal or just some amazing pub grub, they nail it every time. The atmosphere is unbeatable, especially on pub quiz night, which is definitely a challenge (in the best way possible). If you’re into a proper brain workout while enjoying a pint, this is the place to be. Speaking of pints, the tall, Jesus-looking guy behind the bar pours them to absolute perfection—seriously, it’s an art form. The whole team is fantastic, always welcoming, friendly, and up for a chat. And let’s not forget the chef, who’s not only brilliant at what he does but also hilarious—adding to the fun, laid-back vibe of the place. If you’re looking for a pub with great food, great people, and great vibes, Green Goose London is it. Highly recommend!

The Green Goose is a fantastic pub with a cozy, rustic charm. The food is excellent, from classic fish and chips to their highly rated Sunday roasts, with great vegan and vegetarian options too. The drinks selection is just as impressive, featuring East London craft beers and expertly mixed cocktails. The pub’s layout offers something for everyone—whether you prefer the lively front bar, the relaxed restaurant space, or the lovely garden. With a warm atmosphere and live sports screenings, it’s a top spot for any occasion. Highly recommended!

Absolutely loved my visit! Was immediately greeted by the two friendly staff despite it being so busy. Enjoyed some perfectly poured Guinness and exquisite food. The vibe is awesome, full of chatty people having fun and a perfect beer garden to enjoy the sun. Will be UNREAL in the summer. I’ve been to other pubs in the area but none have catered to me and my friends like here. 100% will be coming back. If you’re in Bow this is THE spot.

The Green Goose is a fantastic pub that brings together great food, drinks, and a warm atmosphere. The staff are friendly and welcoming, making it a pleasure to visit.he ambiance strikes the perfect balance between modern and traditional pub charm, making it ideal for both casual meet-ups and special occasions. The decor is charming, with a lovely mix of modern touches and traditional pub warmth. It’s the kind of place where you can unwind with friends or enjoy a quiet evening solo. The outdoor space is also a huge plus, especially when the weather is nice! Green Goose is a lovely spot in East London, and I’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend it for a relaxed evening out!
