About This Pub
Right, let me tell you about Barge East – it's this brilliant spot moored on the River Lee, where you've got a mix of fine dining on a historic barge and relaxed vibes in the gardens. From what I've gathered from folks' chats, the food really steals the show; their roasts are tender as can be, with standout sides and desserts that leave you grinning. It's got that award-winning edge, which means you're in for quality without the pretence. The views over the canal are just lovely, perfect for whiling away a sunny afternoon with a frozen cocktail or a pint. On the flip side, it does get bustling, especially outdoors, so you might end up jostling for space or waiting if you haven't reserved. And while the prices are fair, they can mount up if you're indulging in the full experience. All in all, it's a solid choice for a unique day out – I'd say give it a go if you're up for something a bit different from the usual pub crawl, but keep an eye on the weather and your budget to make the most of it.

Cons

-
The whole floating setup might feel a tad unusual if you're after a traditional pub feel, and weather can play havoc with outdoor plans.

Sunday roast was so so tasty, I had the trio of meats, all were tender and the veggies were good too, loved the gravy as did my daughter who kept dipping my Yorkie in it.
Peanut and chocolate delice for dessert, worth a visit just for that.
We had the same waiter as our last visit, from Liverpool I think, excellent service.
Will return for the Sunday roast
We came for a Sunday roast but I skip the traditional roast and went for the beef rib - food was really really tasty. Yorkshire pudding as large as my head. Do not skip dessert and order the chocolate peanut one, it was delicious! Overall, a lovely sunny afternoon on the canal with superb food to indulge in. Will be back soon!
Always such a great timing dining here. The food is top quality using the finest and freshest ingredients.
My partner and I had the lamb and pork roasts which were fantastic! The sides - out if this world (special shout out to that cauliflower- wow). Other dishes to mention are the steak, focaccia, and…. The choc peanut delice 🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠
Thanks to the team for the superb service and incredible food!
I’ve been to Barge East a few times now and I always love the experience. I had a roast today for lunch and it was amazing! Friendly staff, good service and beautiful view of the canal. I would definitely recommend! Thanks to the Barge for a great day out!
This was an unusual.venue. The gardens and upper decks were heaving on a warmish Saturday evening. The main restaurant area wasn't so busy but good in that we were able to have a table for 4 for the 2 of us and we could hear each other talk.
We really enjoyed the oyster and the croquettes and the pork t bone was better than.the monkfish which looked nicer than it tasted. (Personal opinion). Probably not worth having the salad leaves side but the potato gallete was great.
Overall, pretty good all washed down with a bottle of rose. £114 for 2
