About This Pub

Ah, Howling Hops – what a lovely little find in Hackney Wick! I've got to say, as someone who loves a good pint, this place really hits the mark with its fresh, on-site brews that are full of character and variety. Picture this: you're sat at one of those long tables, soaking up the bright and airy space, with a glass of their Tropical Deluxe pale ale in hand – it's refreshingly crisp and just the thing for a sunny afternoon or a catch-up with friends. The staff are an absolute delight, always ready with a smile and some insider tips on what to try next, which makes the whole experience feel warm and personal. And if you're a dog owner, it's a treat to see so many pups around, adding to that relaxed, community vibe. On the flip side, though, it does get bustling on weekends, so if you're eyeing up a table for a bigger group, I'd recommend sorting a booking to skip the hassle. Plus, it's not smack in the city centre, so it might take a bit of effort to get there, and the prices are on the moderate side, which could add up if you're planning a proper session. All in all, it's a top-notch spot that does craft beer proud, but with a few things to keep in mind for the perfect visit – honestly, it's worth the trip for anyone who appreciates a well-poured pint and good company.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer selection is absolutely spot-on, with fresh tank brews that are bursting with flavour – their Helles Lager and Tropical Deluxe pale ale are real winners for a refreshing pint.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, always up for a chat and making you feel right at home, which really adds to the welcoming vibe.
  • It's a bright, airy space with a fun concept of serving beer straight from the tanks, perfect for catching up with mates or enjoying a relaxed afternoon.
  • Dog-friendly environment means you can bring your furry friends along, and it's great for groups with those long tables that keep things spacious yet sociable.
  • They've got a cracking kitchen residency with Latin Fusion options that smell divine, even if you're just there for the drinks.
Cons
  • It can get pretty packed on weekends, so if you're planning a larger gathering, you'll want to book ahead to avoid disappointment.
  • The location in Hackney Wick is a tad out of the way if you're coming from central London, which might mean a bit of a trek for some.
  • With a moderate price level, it might not be the cheapest spot for a night out, so keep that in mind if you're on a tight budget.

Arrived here spontaneously and what a treat! I'm a big fan of craft beer spots and this place truly delivered. I loved the porter they had on for number 9. Relaxing vibe with chilled music and long tables suitable for big groups but spacious enough so that you aren't right next to other people if that's not your jam. Good spot for a date as they also do food but we didn't try this as they stopped serving that by the time we got there, around 10pm.

The well-reknown influencers Lunch Ambassadors paid a visit, entirely by mistake, as the original lunch destination was closed. What serendipity. The three flights of tacos were fabulous. American consumers of Mexican food generally abide by the Contiguous State Rule--never eat Mexican food in a state that does not border Mexico. This place is an exception.
