About This Pub

You know, I had a great time at The Library in Whitley Bay – it's one of those places that just feels like a hidden gem, tucked away in the town centre. The atmosphere is spot on, whether you're warming up by the log fire on a chilly evening or soaking up the sun in the beer garden during summer. They've nailed the drinks menu too, with a solid range of local craft beers, wines, and cocktails that are genuinely delicious and well worth trying. The events are a real highlight; things like the weekly live music and quiz nights keep things lively without being overwhelming, and it's clear the folks behind it put in the effort to make everyone feel welcome. On the flip side, the opening hours can be a tad unpredictable, so you might want to check ahead to make sure it's open, especially if you're planning a visit on a quieter day. All in all, it's a fantastic spot for a relaxed night out, and I'd say it's quickly becoming a favourite for good reason – just pop in and see for yourself, you won't be disappointed!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely spot on – it's cosy and quirky with a log fire in winter and a beer garden that's perfect for sunny days.
  • They've got a brilliant selection of drinks, including local craft beers, national taps, and some of the best cocktails you'll find along the coast.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always making you feel right at home.
  • It's packed with fun events like live music, quiz nights, and buskers evenings, which really add to the buzz.
  • Oh, and it's dog-friendly, so you can bring your furry mate along for the ride.
Cons
  • The opening hours can seem a bit inconsistent or limited on certain days, so it's worth double-checking before heading out to avoid disappointment.
  • Being right in the heart of Whitley Bay, it might get quite lively and crowded at times, which isn't ideal if you're after a quiet pint.

Our trips to Whitley Bay always include a visit (or 2!!) to The Library Bar. The bar has a wonderful atmosphere with live music, superb cocktails and friendly staff who are a credit to the owner. Well worth a visit - and dog friendly too.

Not my first visit to the Library this weekend and another great night - the atmosphere is buzzing, the live music really good and the service is second to none. The owner Jack has the balance just right on so many counts - a great place to spend time with friends!!

The Library is such a great addition to Whitley Bay, it has such a cosy atmosphere especially if you sit next to the log burner. The staff are really friendly and welcoming and the cocktails are delicious, it has quickly become our favourite bar. The beer garden is also a great sun trap in summer!☀️

Since opening, The Library has definitely become my new local! Loads of reasons to keep going back: the friendly staff, great selection of cocktails (aperol spritz is 🤌🏼), and a fun quiz night on a Wednesday. So happy that this end of Whitley Bay has another great bar!
