Cafe Amsterdam in Whitley Bay

You know, I had a lovely time at Cafe Amsterdam the other week, and I reckon it's one of those hidden gems in Whitley Bay that's worth sharing with mates. The beer selection is just brilliant – they've got this huge range of Dutch brews and porters that are full of character, and it's clear from the buzz around it that folks are really chuffed with the choices. The staff are an absolute delight, always up for a chat and dishing out spot-on recommendations, which makes the whole visit feel personal and fun. Pair that with tasty bites like cheese boards and those moreish bitterballen, and you've got a proper relaxing spot to settle in for the evening. On the flip side, the opening times do seem a tad unpredictable, so it's best to have a quick look before heading out, as you don't want to turn up and find it shut. Also, if you're not one for stronger beers, it might come across as a bit intense, and being a smaller place, it could be quiet on off nights. All in all, though, it's a solid choice for a chilled-out catch-up – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as the positives far outweigh the little niggles.
