About This Pub

Oh, you know, chatting about The Fire Station in Whitley Bay, it's one of those reliable Wetherspoon spots that really delivers on the basics – think affordable pints of Leffe and tasty curries that leave you satisfied without breaking the bank. The staff are dead helpful and the interior's got this clever layout with comfy armchairs and separate nooks, making it ideal for a quick lunch, a family breakfast, or even a pre-show wind-down. Folks seem to love the variety of beers and the overall atmosphere, with plenty of positive vibes from recent visits. On the flip side, it's not all rosy; I've heard a few grumbles about the decor looking a bit shabby in places, like scuffed walls and dodgy carpets, and there might be the odd issue with food not being piping hot, which could put a dampener on things. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're after good value and a laid-back setting, but it's worth keeping expectations realistic for a chain pub – go for the deals and the friendly service, and you'll likely have a great time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The prices are spot on for a cheeky pint or a meal – it's one of those places where you get great value without emptying your wallet
  • Staff are always friendly and approachable, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in
  • The interior has a nice, smooth design with separate seating areas that give it a cosy, varied feel – perfect for settling in with friends or family
  • It's got a good range of drinks like real ales and craft beers, plus solid food options that hit the spot, especially for breakfast or a curry deal
Cons
  • Some parts of the place look a bit worn out, with noticeable damage on the walls and carpets that could do with a spruce-up
  • There have been a few hiccups with food, like dishes arriving cold, which might mean sending things back now and then
  • Tables don't always get cleared promptly, even when it's not too busy, which can make the place feel a tad overlooked at times

This was a solid spot to grab a lunch deal, having a smooth style to its interior including the curves between different sections of seating! Counter is nicely laid out and staff were approachable, who served me a tasty pint of Leffe while I waited for the food. My Beef Madras with rice and naan bread was hot as expected, seating is fine and table was impressively clean!

Had to send the soup back as it was cold. Staff were obliging to resolve issue. Parts of the pub looked tired, noticeable damage on walls, and carpets on the stairs looked off. Wasn't too busy at the time of the visit, but the tables needed clearing. Has the usual spoons value attached to the menu and several real ales priced at under £2 per pint. It's worth a visit.

Thoroughly enjoyed a katsu curry and a cheeky glass of white wine before going to Mugenkyo Taiko drummers show tonight at Whitley Bay Playhouse. Sat in a lovely comfy armchair in a cosy corner. Never been here before, but I'll be back! 😊

My Son says they have a really nice bathroom here. Haha. Been in a few times over our stay here in Whitley Bay. Found a few real ales and craft beers I haven't had before. Played some boardgames with the kids, and stopped in for breakfast today. Few separate areas, with their own feel and atmosphere. Bright and light inside with large windows on either side. Nice place.

Tried this weatherspoons in Whitley Bay the beer is by far cheaper than others nearby and decent quality, staff nice and friendly not to much of a wait at the bar,did not try the food but others around me seemed to be enjoying it 👍. Overall, nice enough clean pub with good staff tables constantly cleaned and toilets clean big + would definitely use again.
