It's got this wonderful, atmospheric feel with cosy nooks on every floor, making it ideal for whether you're after a quiet pint or a lively catch-up with mates. The staff are genuinely lovely, always going the extra mile with their hospitality, and the cocktails and drinks menu is spot on – I've heard so many great things about them from folks who've tried them. That beer garden is a real winner too, especially when the sun's out, and it's nice to see it's welcoming for dogs as well. On the flip side, it's a shame it's only open on Sundays, so you have to plan around that, and without a website, it's not the easiest to get the lowdown beforehand. All in all, if you're in the area on the right day, it's well worth swinging by for a relaxed drink – the positive buzz from everyone who's been there speaks for itself, but do keep those limited hours in mind to avoid disappointment.

Always my favourite bar in Carlisle. The staff, drinks and decor are second to none. Whether it’s a lovely day enjoying the beer garden or a typical English weather day enjoying being sat by the fire this bar has it all covered. The hospitality is always out of this world and brings that elevated extra touch each time you visit. The attention to detail on the design of each area really makes each space luxurious and different to typical bars, highly recommended a visit for any occasion.

The most beautiful, atmospheric, hidden gem, in Carlisle, The Lane is stunning inside, every floor of the bar is different, with many cozy areas, including a roaring open fire downstairs, perfect for cocktails on a cold Winter night.
