About This Pub
Ah, The Jailhouse in Belfast – what a gem it is for anyone fancying a proper pub experience with a side of history. From what I've gathered chatting about it, most folks absolutely love the place; the staff are usually spot on, offering that warm, helpful service that makes you want to linger over another round. The food's a real highlight too – imagine tucking into a hearty Sunday roast or sipping on fantastic cocktails at a great price, all while soaking up the beautiful pre-colonial history of the area. It's tucked away in a interesting spot, giving it that relaxed, not-too-busy feel that's perfect for a catch-up with mates. But, to keep it real, it's not all smooth sailing; there was that one story where service fell flat, leaving a sour taste, and the prices can nudge a bit high for what you get, even if it's worth it. Overall, I'd say it's a solid choice for pub goers looking for a mix of good times and a dash of culture, just keep an eye out for those off moments and you'll likely have a brilliant visit.
Pros and Cons
Pros

-
The food and drinks are top-notch – think delicious Sunday roasts and cracking cocktails, like the two-for-£14 deal that's a real winner.
-
It's steeped in Belfast history, making it a fascinating spot for a pint and a bit of storytelling.
-
The atmosphere is lovely and relaxed, especially if you're after a quieter spot away from the hustle and bustle.
Cons
-
Service can be hit or miss at times, with one tale of being turned away without a proper explanation, which is a bit of a downer.
-
Prices for food might feel a tad steep, like £18 for a plate, even if the quality makes up for it.

“Just visiting” 😆 first drink in Belfast, fantastic service and beautiful history. Amazing to learn of the pre-colonial history of the passages.
Dropped in for a Sunday roast, fish and chips and a drink. It's an interesting venue in an interesting location. The food was amazing (ever so slightly pricey at £18 a plate for the roast and fish and chips each, but the quality covered the cost). A nice pub lunch in central Belfast.
Would give it 0 stars if possible. Came in for 1 or 2 drinks. A barmaid in a red baseball jacket decided I couldn't be served 🤷 with no explanation. We went on to have a decent night (with service!) in the Thirsty Goat with great live music but definitely soured the night.
Spent a very enjoyable afternoon here, great barman (Ethan maybe?) food absolutely delicious, slightly off the beaten track so not too busy which is always nice, worth a visit when you're in Belfast 🍺
A hidden gem. Beautiful food , fantastic cocktails , 2 for £14. Lovely relaxing atmosphere. Very nice helpful staff.
