About This Pub

Ah, The Iona Bar – it's one of those places that just feels like a second home, tucked away on Easter Road in Edinburgh. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this fantastic friendly atmosphere where the staff go out of their way to make sure you're having a good time, and the drinks are reasonably priced, which is always a win in my book. Whether you're popping in for a quick pint after work or joining the crowd for a match day, it's clear folks love the buzz and the little extras like the beer garden or that malt of the month deal – it's a nice nod to the locals who appreciate a good dram. On the flip side, it can turn into a bit of a scrum when the games are on, so if you're not up for the hustle and bustle, you might want to pick a quieter evening. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone looking for a genuine, down-to-earth spot to unwind, with plenty of heart and a few community events to keep things interesting – I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and kind, always making you feel welcome like you're chatting with old mates.
  • Prices are spot on – affordable drinks that won't break the bank, perfect for a casual night out.
  • It's a brilliant spot for match days with a lively atmosphere that gets everyone buzzing, especially if you're into football.
  • They've got a lovely beer garden for enjoying a pint outdoors on a sunny day.
  • The malt of the month rotation adds a nice touch, keeping things fresh and exciting for whisky lovers.
  • There's a great community feel with events like darts nights, making it easy to join in and have a laugh.
Cons
  • It can get absolutely mobbed on match days, which might feel a bit overwhelming if you're after a quiet drink.
  • The schedule seems a tad confusing with multiple timings listed for Sundays, so it's worth double-checking before heading out.

On match days it's marvellously mobbed, but it's so good on any day. Superb service and the pint never touched the sides and that is what good pubs are about. It wasn't a match day so I bought another for confirmation while the pals preciously sipped their pints. Ok I should've paced myself but when it's good, it's gotta be drunk. Thanks and see you soon.

Friendly and a good place to watch the footie when you can't get a ticket. Sometimes free sandwiches at half time too ⚽️

Good, friendly atmosphere. Monday night is a Darts night. Every second week the team are at home. It is a good laugh and prices of drink aren't too bad either. If darts is your thing then I'm sure they would welcome you along... Good bunch of folk.
