About This Pub
Ah, Old Eastway Tap – what a lovely little find on Easter Road! I have to say, it's one of those places that just draws you in with its relaxed, welcoming feel, where you can sink into a comfy spot and chat away the evening. The beer scene is where it really shines; they've got an impressive lineup of craft brews, lagers, and ciders that showcase the best of Scotland and further afield, and the staff are always eager to recommend something new – it's like having a mate who's a beer expert. Pair that with solid food choices like their charcuterie boards or those tasty Mac Dogs, and you've got a solid evening sorted, especially if you're after something vegetarian-friendly. The outdoor seating is a bonus on those rare sunny days, and it's great to see it's so accommodating for dogs too. On the flip side, though, it does get bustling at times, so you might need to plan ahead to snag a table inside, and if you're not mad about beer, the options elsewhere might feel a tad limited. All in all, it's a brilliant spot for a laid-back night out, and I'd definitely recommend giving it a go if you're in Edinburgh – it's got that perfect balance of homely charm and a bit of excitement.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The beer selection is absolutely brilliant – with 16 draught lines and 4 cask ales, you've got a cracking range from Scottish independents and beyond, perfect for anyone who loves exploring new brews.
-
The atmosphere is so cosy and relaxed; it's just the spot to unwind with mates, whether you're tucked inside or enjoying the outdoor seating on a sunny day.
-
The staff are top-notch – friendly, knowledgeable, and always up for a chat, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
They've got some lovely food options too, like charcuterie boards and those legendary Mac Dogs, with great choices for vegetarians that really hit the spot.
-
It's super dog-friendly and welcoming, which is a nice touch if you're out with your furry friend.
Cons
-
It can get pretty packed at peak times, so if you're after an indoor table, it's wise to book ahead or you might end up waiting around.
-
If beer isn't your thing, the focus is still heavily on it, even though they've got wines and spirits; it might not feel as varied for non-beer enthusiasts.
-
The location on Easter Road is a bit out of the way from the main tourist spots, so it could be trickier to pop in if you're not local.

We found this bar just by looking around Google maps to see what was near our airbnb. Delighted at the vegetarian options, really diverse beer selections, and awesome vibes. So happy we skipped out on a tourist dinner in old town tonight!
A place for moments! Wonderful, chatty staff and beautiful food cooked by the staff who have been trained in running a small kitchen. Excellent beers and a really good crowd. Super dog friendly as well. I'll definitely be back
One of my favourite pubs in Edinburgh, I like their vibes.
Awesome tap on Easter Road, perfect for a Sunday beer or two with a nice selection of beers, ciders, gins and whiskeys. The food looked excellent too.
The staff were brilliant, knowledgeable, happy, totally on it. Definitely worth a visit and a nice atmosphere, especially with the rugby on. Could have stayed all day pretty easily.
Absolutely love this wee pub - It is our local for a reason! The staff are always absolutely amazing and so knowledgeable about the fun beers they have on offer. The atmosphere is super cozy, comfy, hip and relaxed, just such a nice vibe to come and grab a drink with a friend after work or anytime! Also absolutely LOVE the autumn decorations and the fairy lights, also makes the space great for games (which they have) to grab a meal or read a book! Not to mention they are super dog friendly!
