About This Pub
Ah, Tamsons Bar – it's one of those unpretentious pubs in Edinburgh that you might stumble upon and end up having a right good time. I reckon it's brilliant for catching up with mates before a Hibs game; the community spirit really shines through, with plenty of banter and that feel-good vibe that keeps folks coming back. The karaoke on Friday and Saturday nights is an absolute highlight – imagine belting out tunes with a crowd that's up for a laugh, all while enjoying reasonably priced drinks that won't break the bank. But fair's fair, it's not all rosy; some have mentioned it can get a bit lively with the regulars, leading to shouting and swearing that might spoil the mood if you're after something more relaxed. Plus, the soft drinks aren't up to much, so if you're driving or not drinking, you might be disappointed. Overall, though, if you're up for a no-nonsense night with good company and a sing-along, it's definitely worth a punt – just go in with the right expectations and you'll likely have a whale of a time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is spot on, especially for match days with that community spirit and good banter that makes you feel right at home.
-
Karaoke nights on Fridays and Saturdays are a blast, with a cracking jukebox and sing-alongs that get everyone involved.
-
Prices are decent and inexpensive, making it a wallet-friendly choice for a casual pint or evening out.
-
Friendly staff who go the extra mile to make you welcome, adding to the warm, welcoming vibe.
Cons
-
It can get a bit rowdy with shouting and swearing from the regulars, which might put some off if you're after a quiet drink.
-
The soft drinks on draught don't have much taste, so it's not ideal if you're not up for alcohol.
-
Some find the place a tad dull or unfriendly at times, with one person mentioning the staff weren't particularly welcoming on their visit.
-
It's a small, tiny spot, which means it might feel cramped or lacking in variety for a bigger night out.

Great match day walk out pub, juke box and community spirit
Great bar, a lovely warm atmosphere and decent prices for drinks. Cracking Duke Box. Sing along to Karaoke on Friday nights. Excellent for a drink before the Hibs games.
Nice friendly pub, Frank and Alison also make you very welcome, this pub has brilliant karaoke on a Friday & Saturday night. Even the locals chat away to you which also gives the pub a fantastic atmosphere. Worth a visit.
Not impressed with this place at all....
No atmosphere apart from shouting and swearing from the regular old guys at the bar.
Then one of the guys serving whilst half pissed.
Not friendly at all. Draught soft drinks had no taste. This is a pretty dull tiny wee place.
Overall if you want to listen to ridiculous foul mouthed alcoholics ans waste your night out then go here if not then head somewhere further up the road.
Excellent wee pub, especially on a Friday when there is a barry karaoke. Also great atmosphere any day, evening that Hibs have been playing. No trouble, good banter and a right, gid atmosphere.
