About This Pub
So, I have to say, Abode Café Bar in Edinburgh has really won me over as a go-to spot for a laid-back drink. It's this independent little haven on Leith Walk, opened just a few years back, and it's become a favourite for locals and visitors alike with its focus on quality local brews and an unusual wine list that keeps things interesting – think craft beers from Edinburgh's own Barney's and Campervan, paired with some fancy cocktails if you're in the mood. The atmosphere is just spot on, with cosy corners inside that feel quirky and inviting, and those outdoor tables are perfect for soaking up the sun with a coffee or beer. The staff are an absolute delight, always attentive and making you feel welcome, which really adds to the home-from-home vibe. On the downside, though, it's mostly about the drinks since the food is limited to tasty nibbles like grilled cheese or a charcuterie board – no full meals here, so if you're peckish for something substantial, you might want to plan ahead. Plus, it's a small space that fills up quickly, so booking in advance is a smart move to avoid waiting around. All in all, it's a brilliant little spot for starting or ending your day, especially if you fancy supporting local suppliers and enjoying a relaxed chat with friends, but keep those limitations in mind for the full experience.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The drinks selection is absolutely brilliant, with a fantastic range of local craft beers from Barney's and Campervan, plus exciting wines and even some quirky cocktails to make your visit feel special.
-
The staff are so warm and attentive, always making you feel right at home with their friendly chats and quick service – it's like catching up with old mates.
-
It's got this cosy, colourful, and quirky atmosphere that's perfect for relaxing, whether you're tucked away inside or enjoying the sunny outdoor seating on a nice day.
-
They're super welcoming to families and pets, letting kids in until 8pm and well-behaved dogs anytime, which makes it a great spot for a laid-back get-together.
-
Being in the heart of Leith Walk, it's conveniently placed for a quick stop or a full evening, and they use loads of local suppliers, which adds a real community feel.
Cons
-
The food options are pretty limited, just nibbles like cakes and charcuterie boards since there's no proper kitchen, so if you're after a hearty meal, you might need to head elsewhere.
-
It can get quite busy in this snug little space, so you might have to book ahead to snag a table and avoid disappointment, especially on popular evenings.
-
The operating hours are from midday onwards, which is great for afternoons, but if you're an early riser looking for a breakfast spot, it's not quite the place.

Lovely pint and very tentative staff. So nice sitting outside in the sun.
As cheesy as it is to say, this place feels like a home from home. Great selection of drinks (I've not had any food yet) and with me only having to walk 10 mins to get to it's me regular.
Nice bar with plenty of outdoor seating.
Popular spot to sit out with a beer or coffee.
Pleasant service.
The interior is atmospheric and welcoming.
Went here for the first time last night and absolutely loved it - cutest wee place with a lovely aesthetic, and the drinks were good and the staff were nice and attentive 😊 will definitely be back!
Nice cute cafe bar with good variety of drinks. We ordered a mimosa and a green tea. Service was also very nice. Would recommend it!
