About This Pub
Ah, let me tell you about The Inn South Stainley – it's one of those places that just wraps you up in that classic Yorkshire welcome, you know? From the moment you step in, the staff are absolute stars, always ready with a smile and a helping hand, whether you're sorting out a booking mix-up or just grabbing a quick drink. I love how dog-friendly it is; it's clear they go the extra mile for your four-legged companions, with comfy setups in the rooms that made our stay so much easier. The atmosphere is just spot on – think cosy fires and relaxed seating for unwinding after a day out in the countryside. And if you're stopping over, the rooms are clean and well-appointed, with little patios that add a nice touch for enjoying the views. On the flip side, breakfast doesn't start until 8am, which might not suit everyone if you're eager to get going early, and while the location's brilliant, that nearby road can get a bit buzzy during the day, though it doesn't bother you much once you're inside. All in all, it's a solid choice for a laid-back escape, with plenty of heart and a few things to keep in mind for the perfect visit.

Popped in for a quick drink while passing today. Very friendly staff, lovely bar area with relaxed seating. Dog welcome and Guineas was good. Paid car park opposite, but you can enter your reg at the bar and you aren’t charged. Would certainly pop in again if passing.
Beautiful place , excellent location and amazing staff. Simon was so helpful with my booking after I got the incorrect day when booking he sorted it out within minutes for me. Bar staff so friendly. Place extremely clean . Many thanks for a great stay
These opinions are my own based on my experience and the purpose of my stay.
Breakfast was served from 8am. Not ideal for anyone who stays for work and has to leave the hotel early. My mistake for not checking this before booking. Make sure you let staff know how you like your eggs if you eat them. Poached eggs were practically raw with just enough cooking to make the whites stable enough to keep the egg together.
The dinner service was very overpriced for the standard of the food. I ate in the restaurant twice. The pizza (£17) was average and the burger (£22) although tasty, was served with a standard chip shop bread cake (bun, bap, barm, depending on your preference 😊) which proceed to flatten and dissolve before even half was eaten. Staff were helpful and friendly though.
For me, the location was perfect. A local supermarket within 5 minutes and travel to work was a short distance from that. Not far from Ripon, Thirsk and Harrogate.
Room was perfect for my required visit although the TV was poorly positioned as it was on a wall bracket 12 inches from the ceiling.
I would stay again but the only thing I wouldn't do is pay for the breakfast.
We had a dog friendly room which was clean and spacious with large en-suite and great shower. Fenced patio the dog could be left in. Although the nearby road was quite busy during the day the rooms were very quiet. The staff were all very cheerful and helpful. The garden area was lovely for a pre dinner drink.
The food was tasty and the menu had a good choice.
We had a very pleasant stay and it was very good value accommodation.
We had a great time at The Inn South Stainley. Our room was perfect. It had a little patio with a seating area, and this was great for our dog, who usually isn't the best when we have a trip away, but he was so relaxed, which a miracle. The Inn is very dog friendly. There was a dog bed and bowl in our room, and our dog actually used the bed (he never even uses his own bed when we're away) All of the staff were lovely. Very helpful and friendly. We had a wonderful stay and we will definitely be returning.
