About This Pub
Ah, The Knox – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Harrogate, you know? From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with that warm, fuzzy vibe, thanks to the friendly staff who really make an effort to chat and ensure everything's just right. The food's a real highlight; I've heard from mates who've raved about the burgers and puddings, all made with fresh, local ingredients that give it an authentic touch. And if you're out with the family or the dog, it's brilliant – they welcome kids and furry friends with open arms, complete with treats and a relaxed garden area. On the flip side, though, the hours can be a tad restrictive, so you might find yourself planning around that, and it does fill up quickly, which could mean a bit of a queue if you're not early. Overall, it's a solid choice for a laid-back evening or a meal out, and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just go with the flow and you'll have a great time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly welcoming and attentive, always going the extra mile to make you feel right at home.
-
It's wonderfully dog-friendly, with fresh water and treats on offer, making it a brilliant spot for a post-walk pint.
-
The food is spot on – think juicy burgers, delicious desserts, and a solid menu of traditional, locally sourced dishes that hit the spot.
-
The atmosphere is cosy and inviting, with a beautiful fireplace and original beams that give it that proper pub charm.
-
They're family-oriented, with options for kids and a relaxed vibe that's perfect for special occasions like birthdays or even a quiet Sunday lunch.
Cons
-
The opening hours can be a bit tricky to pin down, with some days closing earlier than you'd hope, so it's worth checking ahead if you're planning a visit.
-
It does get quite busy at times, which might mean a wait for a table or service, especially on popular nights like quiz evenings.
-
While the car park is free and handy, there aren't any additional facilities for motorhomes beyond parking, so it might not suit everyone travelling that way.

Very dog friendly, very accommodating staff and lovely food (not all typical pub grub).
We stayed on car park in our motorhome (notice required), no services but we were happy with our own.
Fab pub, great atmosphere, full of friendly locals, very very dog and child friendly which was brilliant as we brought both! All the staff were lovely, attentive and couldn’t help enough. Food was pretty good, great menu, very well presented, puddings are incredible, especially the toffee cheesecake!
Food was lovely. Friendly staff too. Really nice pub
We went for Mother's Day today. We were welcomed warmly on arrival by the owner. We were quickly shown to our table and didn't have to wait long to order drinks or food. I opted for a small size Sunday dinner and had turkey. The meal size was just right and delicious. There were plenty of options for one of our party who is coeliac. The service was great and all the staff were friendly. It was a nice busy atmosphere, we enjoyed our visit and will be back.
Never in my life have I had a burger at a restaurant as flavoursome as the one I had the other day (and I have eaten a lot of burgers, as a fussy eater). So juicy, so boujie, fanciest burger and dessert I've ever eaten.
I'd never been to The Knox before, but I know people who go there often, and I can see why. Good choice of drinks, AMAZING food, nice staff, lovely decor (big fan of the cow print booths), decent prices, and an overall great experience.
Can't wait to visit in the summer!!
