About This Pub

Ah, The Horse & Stables – it's one of those hidden gems in London that just feels like a proper local haunt, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this lovely laid-back vibe that's perfect for kicking back with a pint after exploring the city. The food really stands out; folks rave about the burgers and fish and chips, paired with some cracking beers that won't break the bank. Service-wise, it's all smiles and warmth, making you feel like you're chatting with old friends rather than just popping in for a drink. That upstairs space for events adds a nice touch if you're up for something a bit more lively, like a comedy night. On the flip side, it's a bit disappointing to hear it might be closed right now, and without clear opening times, it could leave you hanging if you're not careful. Overall, if you can catch it on a good day, it's well worth a visit for a solid, enjoyable pub experience – just go in with your eyes open to those little hiccups.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is wonderfully laid-back and cosy, making it a perfect spot to unwind after a day in bustling London.
  • The food is spot on – think delicious burgers, hearty fish and chips, and a great selection of beers that hit the spot.
  • Service is always friendly and welcoming, with staff who go out of their way to make you feel right at home.
  • Its location near Waterloo Station and Lambeth North tube is super convenient, ideal for a quick pint or a catch-up with mates.
  • There's an upstairs area for events like comedy nights, adding a fun twist for those looking for a bit more entertainment.
Cons
  • It seems like the pub might be closed at the moment, which is a real shame given all the positives.
  • There's no clear information on operating hours, so it could be tricky to plan a visit without double-checking first.
  • A couple of reviews mentioned minor niggles with the food, like the fish and chips having skin on one side, which might not suit everyone's taste.

The Horse & Stables 📍122-124 Westminster Bridge Rd, London SE1 7RW 🚇 Lambeth North 🍺 £6.30 Brew by Numbers 32 ❤️ A laid back Waterloo local. . The Horse & Stables is located near a busy intersection not far from Waterloo Station. The nearest Tube is Lambeth North which is just around the corner. . This place dates from the early 19th century, originally known as the Horse & Groom for Wm. Younger & Co. There have been a couple of name changes in recent years, The Horse in 2007, then The Horse & Stables in 2014. . The decor here is traditional with a few contemporary touches here and there. This is a medium size one bar pub which has a simple but good size servery on the left hand side. There is plenty of seating throughout the pub, my favourite area was the oldschool booth with the Georgian panelling and brown velour seat covers. Opposite the servery are a group of comfy booths with stylish wallpaper above and large gold framed mirrors across the wall. . The beer choice was keg craft focused and included brews by local London breweries. After some guidance from the nice chap behind the ramp, I decided on a pint of 32 lager by @brewbynumbers . This was my first pint of 32 and I really enjoyed it, price point was just above average. There is a traditional pub grub menu with an American influence. . I visited around 5pm on Coronation day back in May. On entering the pub, there was a relaxing vibe and a overall lovely atmosphere. The soundtrack was an eclectic mix from the Bee Gees to rare groove soul, loved it. The service was great, the chap behind the bar was very welcoming, courteous and as mentioned earlier helpful in choosing a beer. . The @horseandstables was a very enjoyable visit most notably for the friendly and welcoming feel here. The beer selection was good and the food receives positive reviews. This pub is definitely worth a visit for any occasion. . ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 06/05/23

The burgers were awesome! And the beer too. The place is lovely and the people who runs it were very cordial and kind to us. If you are near westminster I highly reccomend that you spend some time in this place.

Very friendly service, the food is good and fish and chip's fish was huge. The fish tacos were good and not like the tacos we're used to. The draft beer was also good and big. The atmosphere is cozy and hip. Plus, the restroom had cute antique style to it. Lol

Great appetizers and good drinks. Fish and chips and bangers an mash was very good, but the do leave the skin one side if the fish when they fry it.
