About This Pub
You know, chatting about The Crown & Cushion feels like sharing tips over a pint with mates. It's this welcoming spot in Waterloo that's got that classic English pub charm, where you can pop in for a well-poured Guinness or a pint of real ale, and the staff are always up for a smile and a chat. What really stands out is the food – blending hearty English fare with delicious Thai options, like that spicy chicken and prawn fried rice that's spot on for a midweek treat. The beer garden's a bonus on a sunny afternoon, and catching live sports adds to the fun without overwhelming the place. On the flip side, it does get a bit heaving at peak times, so you might struggle for a seat or end up raising your voice over the chatter, and that unexpected Thai twist could surprise you if you're just in the mood for straightforward pub vibes. All in all, it's a solid choice for a casual night out – honest, unpretentious, and with enough positives to overlook the minor niggles, as long as you're up for a bit of hustle and bustle.

Chicken and prawn fried rice is really delicious. It's a little bit of spicy. But it's really good.
A genuine pub , no nonsense keg beer selection that leans towards macro offerings and 3 on the hand pulls. At the time of visit there was one local best bitter from Southwark brewery and the other two were from regional breweries. The front door leads into a large open space with lots of natural light during the day time. Many signs and old advertising mirrors adorn the walls giving the pub a real old word charm. Somewhere to spend the afternoon chatting about how sadly there are less and less pubs like this around London these days. A great escape from the tourist throngs frequenting most Waterloo drinking holes . Long may it live
A typical English pub at times can be noisey and nowhere to sit. Friendly staff and has a relaxing atmosphere, but have never tried the food on offer. Drinks very reasonably priced.
If you consider yourself a Guinness lover,
let me tell you my friend, I have covered.
Order at the bar a pint of two,
perfectly poured for you.
Surrounded my Guinness memorabilia you will find,
A Guinness pub that will blow your mind.
Full of locals and staff that is kind,
And a thai restaurant perfect to dine.
Get food from upstairs, they’ll bring it down,
And a perfectly poured Guinness, no need to frown.
I would argue it’s one of the best in town,
So much you will feel like a king, just missing the crown.
This looks like an old fashioned pub on the exterior, however, once you go in there is a Thai Restaurant upstairs. One moment you are sitting in a typical pub sipping on a pint and the next minute there's someone getting special fried rice waited to them on the next table. The food is absolutely amazing, I have never tasted Thai food as good as this before.
All the staff are very friendly, this is a great location if you are simply passing by, or if your staying locally and want a change up from the typical steamed burger and chips from your hotel.
The next time I am staying in this area I will be dining here instead of the hotel restaurant.
Keep up the good work, thanks and see you soon.
