About This Pub

You know, when I popped into The Gloucester Old Spot, it just had that cosy, welcoming feel that's hard to beat in Bristol – it's like stepping into a proper local spot where everyone feels at home. The garden stands out as a real winner; it's spacious, heated for those chillier days, and perfect for lounging with mates over a lazy lunch or evening drinks, which really adds to the relaxed atmosphere. The team there are an absolute delight, always on hand with a smile and eager to help, especially if you're planning something special like a wedding – they've got the spaces and packages sorted to make it effortless and fun. On the food front, they've nailed the fresh, seasonal stuff with generous servings that encourage sharing and chatting, but I've got to say, it's not all smooth sailing; a few folks have mentioned dishes coming out overcooked or taking ages, even when it's not too busy, which could put a dampener on things. All in all, it's a solid choice for a good time with friends, as long as you keep in mind that the grub might have its off days – still, the positives far outweigh the niggles, making it worth a visit for anyone after a bit of Bristol charm.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The garden is an absolute gem, perfect for soaking up the sun with a pint and some al fresco dining, making it a top spot for relaxed get-togethers any time of year.
  • The staff are genuinely warm and welcoming, especially when it comes to hosting events like weddings or birthdays – they really go the extra mile to make everything special.
  • It's a family-friendly haven with fresh, locally sourced food that's all about generous portions and flavours that bring people together, plus it's got that lovely community vibe.
Cons
  • Food can sometimes fall short, like with overcooked dishes or long waits, which might leave you a bit disappointed if you're after a quick, flawless meal.
  • At a moderate price point, it doesn't always feel like you're getting bang for your buck, based on a few experiences where the quality didn't quite match the cost.

Tucked just off Gloucester Road, this pub is an absolute gem. It has a lovely, relaxed atmosphere and a beautifully kept garden that’s perfect for sunny days or evening catch-ups. The staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience feel extra enjoyable. It’s also a brilliant spot for events – plenty of space, great vibes, and a setup that makes everything run smoothly without feeling formal. Whether you're popping in for a quiet drink or hosting something special, this place really delivers. Highly recommend if you're in the area! (Price depends on how much you drink and how long you are there!)

We had our wedding here on the bank holiday weekend in May and I can honestly say from the moment we booked the marquee everything has been great. Amy was so great with us, always on hand via email to respond to any questions or queries and was so accommodating for us aswell. The big day came and I can’t fault them! They set up all the decorations just how I wanted it. The food was sooo yummy and our guests also said the same. It was the most relaxed beautiful day we could have ever hoped for. The staff were all amazing and the service was great. Nothing was too much. A wonderful atmosphere and we had the best day ever just gutted we can’t go back and do it again. Thank you all so much! You made our day so memorable xx

We were extremely lucky to hold our wedding reception at The Gloucester Old spot the beginning of May. Amy and her team were honestly the best, helping us with every aspect from start to finish, both professionally and super friendly! We had so many compliments from our guests on the food, it was all beautifully presented and tasted just as lovely. The venue really is gorgeous, and suited just what we were after. A casual but quirky affair, and not too far from the centre of Bristol. We would not hesitate to come back for any future events we may have. We look forward to coming back to try the famous roast dinners! Thanks so much to the team for making our day so special, it’s a day we’ll never forget.

The food was disappointing, especially the pork belly which was overcooked and too tough. The service was very friendly but food took over an hour to come even if the restaurant wasn’t’ very full. Overall a nice pub for an afternoon drink but food is disappointing for the price range.

Amy and her team were absolutely incredible, and we cannot thank them enough for making our UK celebration everything we dreamed it would be and more. Their professionalism, creativity, and dedication shone through every step of the way, and their kindness and support truly meant the world to us. From start to finish, we felt we were in the best hands. Amy and her team went above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect, creating memories that we will cherish forever. We are so grateful to have had such an amazing venue and team by our side on one of the most important days of our lives. Thank you again for everything – you made our day unforgettable!
