About This Pub

You know, when you step into The Garrick, it's like stepping back in time with its rich history and that cosy pub feel – I can imagine why it's such a favourite in Belfast. The staff are just lovely, always up for a chat and quick to recommend a whiskey or sort you out with a meal that's full of flavour, whether you're after something hearty like beef and Guinness pie or lighter vegetarian choices. It's got this inviting buzz, especially with the live traditional music that really brings the place to life on a Saturday evening. On the downside, though, it does tend to fill up quickly, so you might find yourself jostling for space if you pop in during the busy hours, and the prices are a bit on the moderate side, which could add up if you're in for the long haul. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed catch-up or a proper Irish pub experience – I'd say give it a go if you're after genuine hospitality and a taste of the local scene, but maybe plan ahead to avoid the crowds.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in
  • The food is absolutely spot on, with a great selection including vegetarian options, traditional Irish dishes like fish and chips, and even surprises like buffalo wings that hit the mark
  • It's got that authentic traditional pub atmosphere, complete with live music sessions that add a real lively charm to the evening
  • The location in the heart of Belfast is brilliant, easy to get to and perfect for a casual meet-up or a bite after exploring the city
  • Drinks are poured with care, like a perfect Guinness, and the advice on Irish whiskeys is top-notch for anyone wanting to try something new
Cons
  • It can get quite busy at peak times, which might mean a wait for a table or a spot at the bar
  • With moderate prices, it might not be the most budget-friendly option if you're planning a long night out
  • The traditional vibe might feel a bit old-school for those after something more modern or trendy

We spent a Saturday evening at this pub. The staff were very kind and gave great advice on several Irish whiskeys. The Guinness pour was great. There was a group of men playing traditional music in the corner, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommended this pub

One of the best pubs and restaurants in the city of Belfast. When someone told me about how delicious The Garrick’s food is, I doubted. Because, as a Nigerian, I’m used to our delicious African meals. You know, the pepper, fresh vegetables, etc. Well, as someone who loves to try new things, I decided to buy one of their food and man, it was deliciously delicious 😋. And the pub? Well, I don’t drink but I love way the customer service is top notch — they’re friendly and knowledgeable. One thing I observed as well is that people, the customers, who visit the pub or bar are well mannered and nice people. Anyways, is this a restaurant I recommend? Yes! I’ll be buying again from them. I hope you found this helpful? If you do, kindly give me a thumbs up and follow me for more reviews as I journey across this earth (and space) 😀

Best buffalo wings I’ve ever had outside of Buffalo, NY. nice servers and the food is just absolutely amazing! My fiance had the fish and chips which was phenomenal and I had the beef and Guinness pie with champ which was 1000/10! Highly highly recommend

Stopped in for a bite to eat and a beer and we weren’t disappointed. There’s a decent amount of seating in the bar area and the service was great. Can’t go wrong with the Korean chicken, which I was iffy about getting, but it was great!
