About This Pub

Ah, let me tell you about The Friendly Inn – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot for a laid-back evening. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is an absolute standout; think hearty home-cooked meals with a good mix of traditional pub grub and some fresh twists, all served up piping hot and full of flavour. I love how they've got options for those with dietary needs, like gluten-free dishes, so it's not just about the standard fare. The staff really make the place shine too – they're so welcoming and attentive, turning a simple visit into a proper enjoyable experience, whether you're there for a family Sunday lunch or just a quick pint with friends. It's dog-friendly as well, which is brilliant if you're out for a walk and fancy a stop-off. On the flip side, though, the opening times look a tad muddled in the details, so you might want to double-check before heading over to avoid any disappointment. And while the overall rating is smashing at 4.6, it's a shame there's not more info on costs or a fuller website to get excited about in advance. All in all, it's a solid choice for us pub enthusiasts looking for that genuine, homely feel, but just keep those little niggles in mind for a smoother visit.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely brilliant – homemade, delicious, and with plenty of options, including gluten-free choices that cater to different tastes.
  • The service is top-notch; the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's a cosy and relaxed spot, perfect for catching up with mates or family, and being dog-friendly adds a lovely touch for those who bring their furry friends.
  • They've got a great selection of cask ales and a varied menu with pub classics and some modern twists, so there's something for everyone.
  • The atmosphere is just spot on, especially for a village pub, with a welcoming vibe that makes it ideal for a casual meal or a pint.
Cons
  • The operating hours listed seem a bit confusing with multiple entries, which might leave you scratching your head about when they're actually open.
  • There's not much detail on pricing available, so it could be tricky to know if it's going to be a budget-friendly night out or a bit more spendy.
  • The website is quite basic and doesn't offer loads of info, which might make it harder to get a full picture before you pop in.

So pleased we visited for lunch. An appealing lighter lunch menu, served alongside a broad main menu with pub classics and a few modern twists. Definitely something for everyone. The food was homemade, delicious and plentiful. And the friendliness of the service was top notch. We sat on the patio with our occasionally ‘funny’ border collie. Well, he couldn’t have been made more welcome, and it made us so much more relaxed and able to enjoy our lunch. 3 courses with drinks for under £30pp - and the quality exceeded the prices. Thank you so much. We can’t wait to return very soon to try the rest of the menu.
