About This Pub
Oh, let me tell you about The Fox & Hounds – it's one of those hidden gems in Ramsden Heath that really hits the mark for a proper pub experience. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome; stories of the owner dashing out for more drinks or servers like Chloe providing exceptional service just warm my heart. The food is a standout – think hearty, locally sourced meals with big portions that leave you satisfied, whether it's a lunch with family or a dinner date. The atmosphere is just lovely, with cosy nooks inside, a roaring log fire in winter, and brilliant outdoor spaces for sunnier days, making it versatile for all seasons. It's even dog-friendly in the bar, which is a nice touch if you're popping in with your pooch. On the flip side, it does fill up quickly, so planning ahead is a must to avoid disappointment, and the slightly restricted hours, like no lunch on Mondays, might catch you out if you're spontaneous. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone after a genuine, community-feel pub with great grub and a welcoming crowd – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as the positives far outweigh the minor niggles.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
The food is absolutely spot on – locally sourced, with generous portions and dishes that are full of flavour, like the toad in the hole or steak and ale pie.
-
It's got a lovely atmosphere, with cosy indoor spots, a heated outdoor area, and a big garden that's perfect for enjoying a pint on a nice day.
-
They're really accommodating for well-behaved dogs in the bar area, which is great if you're out with your furry friend.
-
Ideal for private events, with options like the heated marquee for parties or functions, and it's all managed with a personal touch.
Cons
-
It can get pretty busy, so you'll need to book ahead to snag a table, especially for meals.
-
The hours are a bit limited, like being closed for lunch on Mondays, which might not suit everyone’s schedule.
-
As it's a small village pub, it might feel a tad out of the way if you're not local, though that's part of its charm.

We was local and googled "pubs near us" and out of the list picked this beautiful little gem of a pub. Lovely looking pub and location, thankfully accepted us as a walk in and we ended up sat outside on a nice day for lunch. Super lovely staff and lovely food, we don't live far and will definitely visit again. Thank you so much! X
Friendly staff. Amazing food. Nice location.
We had such a fantastic experience at this pub over the weekend! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome—especially the owner, who was so friendly, fun, and genuinely accommodating.
They went above and beyond by popping out to the shops just to get more Aperol for us (due to a delivery issue) which was such a thoughtful gesture. On top of that, even though they don’t typically serve cocktails, they kindly made me a delicious mocktail since I don’t drink alcohol. It was really appreciated and showed how much they care about their customers.
The food was absolutely delicious, with generous portions that left us all full and happy. We sat out on the patio in the sunshine, and it was just the perfect setting.
All in all, this place has an amazing atmosphere, service, and great food. We’ll definitely be back!
Amazing! Service from Chloe was exceptional!!! A young lady with such big great hopes for hospitality. Any business would be proud to have her. Big booking and we were all left happy. Food is big portioned and great quality. Will definitely be back thank you!
Met up with some family for lunch. The decor is electric and interesting, as is the menu. We shared the pate to start and then I had toad in the hole and my husband had the steak and ale pie, both were fantastic. Servers were super friendly as well! All in all a wonderful experience
